Years ago I read story of one Finnish sister who went to Lebanon as humanitarian worker to work for Palestinian kids in one refugee camp. It was at 1978 during they war.
She was wounded and go to hospital. As she was European she got special treatment and possibility to go hospital to Europe.
Then she looked around and asked "what these others? can they come too?"
Finnish ambassador answered "no only you". She said "then I stay here too".
After one week she died.
