IMAMS TRAINING PROGRAM

The Government of the United Arab Emirates , UAE is sponsoring a first
of its kind unique training program for American Imams and those
aspiring to become Imams.

Program participant will receive a certificate from the UAE Ministry of
Awqaf & Islamic Affairs.

The courses will consist of a six-week program. Program curriculum will
focus on the following:

1 Moderation in Islam
2 Fiqh for Muslim Minorities
3 Islamic Family Law
4 Principles of Islamic Banking and Finance

Selected individuals will be guest of the UAE government. All expenses
associated with the program will be paid for including Hajj. A modest
stipend will be provided.

Program Dates:

* Arrival in the Dubai on Oct 30th
* Classes commence on Nov 1
* Closing Ceremony- Dec 14th
* Depart for Hajj -Dec 12-25

I am a poor brother and can't afford to go back to school but wish to learn a lot more about Islam. I found an old Phd reading list on the net with some 70 books on it. I am going to try to get everyone of them and read them through interlibrary loan. I have already read over 50 books the past year.

The downside is that I can find lots of Islamic History books and general introductory material but very little on the Quran and theology.

Imams Training Program

The Imams program sounds like an exciting opportunity. If my wife was not expecting I would apply.

If its the same Khalid Ahmed that I think it is , the program will be successful. Back in 2002, he gave a scholarship to my sister for study in Syria.

If its the same brother I know he is big over in the east working in his own business as a defense contractor. I am proud to see some of our American brothers with connection to get things accomplished on an international level. The brother financed a masjid in NJ.

I would be interested in knowing if the program will be offered in the future and if sisters can participate. My wife is very active in outreach. they should have a program for couples.
