:salam2: dear brothers and sisters, :D
I hope you're all in the best of health/imaan:)

I have not been here for along while as many of you have noticed and that was because of some personal reasons. AlhamduliAllaah all that matters now is that I am back home (TTI) :) alhamduliAllaah.
With that been said, I would like to ask you some tips on a project I am working on with my best friend.
This is the plan we have so far,
we live in a city where Muslims are the minority and we felt obliged to do Dawah. This has become our summer project. AlhamduliAllaah we have a community room at our local library and they agreed for us to do..."get to know Muslims day" there. Of course, my best friend and I are not very knowledgeable in our deen but alhamduliAllaah we have the heart which will help us enormously inshaAllah.
Anywho, we're going to have a shaikh come in and give brief introduction of Islam first, then have a Question and answer session next, and then at the end "we'll all get to know each other to break the ice" inshaAllaah.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW THE PLAN.....here is some questions I have.
1. Have you ever done something like this? if so, how did it go and what can you tell us to improve ourselves?
2. what do you think we should add to this to make it more interesting?
3. does this sound like something you'd attend if you did not know about Islam?
4. Give any tips you have inshaAllaah...and help us in this project with your duas!

MAY ALLAAH REWARD YOU ALL!

الحمدلله على كل حال
Assalamua'alaykum warahmatullah Sis Ubah,

MashaAllaah, it really is nice to see you back!!! I'm really so happy :) Hope all is well at your end.

About the project, MashaAllaah it does sound interesting and beneficial. Well, maybe some addition, you guys can make some bookmarks to give out to the participants that have words of ahadeeth/ayaat of the Quran. Make it as fancy and beautiful as you can, it sure will be a great use. Or maybe you can make some pampletes that have some brief information about Islam to give to everybody who attended the seminar.

If you are inviting non-Muslims who wish to join the seminar, maybe you can give out to them copies of the Tafseer, eh?

Oh, after breaking the ice session, maybe you can exchange home addresses between the sisters, to keep in touch with each other and ask them out to your home, have some meal/lunch together. That way, the ukhuwaah will remain even until the project finishes.

Take care now. Hope you'll be around more often :)

Wassalam.

:wasalam: nice to see you back sis! :)

Have you got one of those projector thingies? Because I was thinking maybe you can play some Qur'aan recitations in the beginning. If your area has a lot of Christians, then maybe you can play some verses from Surah Maryam with translation on the projector.

Also at the end, before they leave, you can give them some leaflets about Islam and maybe a website, which they can visit to know more about Islam.

That's all I can think of.

Assalaam walaikum,

Have snacks. People relax more and stay longer.

Yeh! Have some lots of refreshments and maybe even a bowl of dates lol.

JazakaAllaah khairan everyone!
I really appereciate your inputs! alhamduliAllaah, its helping:D
Oh my God, sister chana, I was thinking about the projector thing this morning.....we did something like that on Islamic awareness week. We played Surah Maryam especially the part that talks about Mary and her Son Jesus. It was amaazing alhamduliAllaah! But since it was school, the projector was just there. I dont about the library though:confused:
inshaAllaah, we'll check with them.
WEBSITE idea, sounds perfect! inshaAllaah we'll do that and try to invite them to our local masjid on fridays if they want ask questions:)
mashaAllaah sounds like a plan!
by the way you been missed so much
aaww Ukhti I missed my TTI family soo much tooo....AlhamduliAllaah I am back!
JazakaAllaah khair everyone,:D

Speak about the fundamentals of Islam..don't go on a tangent topic and say...discuss something such as "abortion in Islam"..keep the topics..direct..polished and very very fundamental..for example..have information about Tawheed..you wont *believe* how many people lack knowledge in this..even fellow *Muslims* don't know much about it..so if you pick it as one of your foremost topics..even if not one non-Muslim shows up..and you'll have an all-Muslim turn-out you'll give much much needed information..this will also create a *base* for any future knowledge the people attending might want to get..think of it as you putting them on *step 1* on "the knowledge ladder"..

Also..relax..and have all the people helping you out with this do that..and focus with you on the same things..be *friendly* [each gender with its own gender of course!]..you don't need to be so serious..that you look annoyed..mortified..or worst yet *angry*..smile *big*..greet people *warmly*..make them feel as if they're your friends and they're visiting your home..make them laugh..speak of interesting Islamic etiquettes from the Sunnah..about entering a house/room..drinking water..accepting invitations..et cetra..don't ignore any guest..try to say at least *one thing* even if it's just *thank you for coming*..also ask the guests questions about *themselves* (nothing too personal though..and bear gender limitations in mind!)..so you show them that you care about them too..having snacks is not a bad idea either!...that's excellent in-fact!..and if you can provide small favors for everyone to take after the event is over that's even *better* and you can totally take advantage of that to spread your goal further..pretty much try to be "the hostess with the mostess" as people say :)

Make people feel like they're "traveling" through Islam..not just coming to hear people speak or take pamphlets home with them...so make sure their journey is balanced with education and enjoyment..and that it's very *memorable*

Also..don't underestimate the people who might come..sometimes people will ask *very simple* things but they're so *dense in evidence* that you would need someone with strong knowledge to handle things..so make sure you have 2 or 3 people with very strong and correct knowledge to be in attendance *through-out* the event..mingling with the attendees or sitting at a designated area answering questions..

Finally..make plenty of dua'a for success..and make your intention for doing this firm and clear..and Inshallah you'll reap nothing but success and ajer sister :)

Tawheed! subhanaAllaah, like you said many dont know about it including Muslims! subhanaAllaah,
I too have recently learned about it alhamduliAllaah :)
That is our goal..... TAWHEED and then we'll give them a chance to ask about other Islamic questions they might have inshaAllaah!
I love all your other ideas! mashaAllaah:)
aah we wanted to have FEMALE to FEMALE discussions, but the librarian told us that it should be public event, meaning we cannot have a limit to how many people come or who attends. It should be open to anyone who is interested. So, gender issues will occur and inshaAllaah, hopefully we'll be a bit more careful. MAY Allaah reward you for the reminder.
Thanks for sharing your ideas dear, :D

Wa'aleykum Salaam!!

Oooh, Mash'allah ukhty! I don't know about the 'Suburbs', but here, It seems like the muslims are almost outnumbering the Christians, Alhamdulillah. Though I gotta say, I'm quite disappointed in the way they've divided themselves, subhanallah....May Allah swt cure this hatred disease that the Muslim ummah nowadays are suffering from:(

Anyways, Ukhty I don't have lots to say, since it's already been said- But just remember to BE PATIENT if you see anyone acting rudely to what you guys tell them about the deen(which probably might happen), and have confidence Insha'allah...but don't be over confident(this happened to me lots of times before, and honestly, the results weren't good at all)

And you might wanna change, "Get to know Muslims day", to "Get to know Islam day" because well, Non-muslims should learn about the "deen" itself first, instead of the "people" who follow it.....just A suggestion:)
You're in my du'ass, don't worry:)

P,s; I want to come...Adresska inaad ii qortid waaye:) Unless you don't want me to see you guys mess up...kiddin' ukhty:D:D:D you'll do fine with Allah's will.
