Hajj officials review services and facilities for Hajj season

JEDDAH: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance conducted the first follow-up meeting to ensure the completion and readiness of works and projects for Hajj.

Those at the meeting discussed the needs of the ministry’s facilities in the holy sites, the most prominent implemented projects and the work of maintenance and operation companies.

Awareness and guidance programs provided to the pilgrims during Hajj season were also discussed, including the duties of preachers and translators and the ministry's preparations to implement the Guests of God Service Program for Hajj pilgrims.

With the return of pilgrims in full capacity after the pandemic, Suleiman Al-Khamis, a member and representative of the ministry, said that the committee was briefed on the work of all other committees working during Hajj for this season.

Ahmad Sindi, chairman of the board of directors of the Non-Arab African Pilgrims Company, made an on-site field tour to inspect preparations for the company’s service centers.

Sindi was briefed on the programs and services that will be provided during this year’s Hajj season. The tour included the opening of Service Center 14, which contains a mini-museum about Hajj and the services offered to pilgrims.

It highlights images of efforts made by the government to ensure the comfort of pilgrims, old transport systems used in the past during the Hajj journey, service facilities and the rapid development witnessed by the Kingdom.

The museum also displays documents on the history of Tawafa, the sacred feelings between the past and the present, and a collection of books and scientific encyclopedias.

Hajj cybersecurity exercise held in Jeddah​

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s National Cybersecurity Authority on Sunday launched an exercise for Hajj in Jeddah which involves more than 350 cybersecurity officials.

The two-day exercise aims to develop the skills of specialists and enable them to carry out their duties in order to improve services for Hajj pilgrims.

The exercise includes conducting cyberattack simulations, applying the emergency incident response mechanism, starting from readiness, detection, and analysis, then containment, recovery, and post-accident procedures, in addition to sharing information and learned lessons.

It will also include a set of technical and administrative activities aimed at finding innovative solutions to online challenges and threats.

Meanwhile, CEO of the Company of Mutawifs for Pilgrims from African Non-Arab Countries Bader Bafakeeh inaugurated the first stage of a smart camp project for African non-Arab pilgrims in Arafat and Mina.

Several contracts and strategic partnerships were signed with a number of specialized companies and institutions. The project encourages the use of technology to solve crowd management challenges through smart monitoring systems that provide real-time indicators, which supports decision-making and facilitates smoother rituals for Hajj pilgrims.

Saudi officials review Hajj crowd-management plans​

JEDDAH: Saudi officials gathered here recently to discuss crowd-management and other issues in preparation for the upcoming Hajj.
Abdulaziz bin Ali Al-Ayoubi, assistant president for Technical and Field Service Affairs of the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, held the meeting with leaders of related agencies.

Al-Ayoubi said the challenge is to ensure the smooth flow of pilgrims to places for prayer, especially in the Grand Mosque and its courtyards.

He said the presidency would use special spray fans to help cool pilgrims during their rituals.

He urged the officials to work together, ensure all equipment has spare parts in case of emergency repairs, and oversee regular inspections.

Al-Ayoubi added that officials should also ensure that adequate numbers of workers are contracted for the Hajj period.

Ministry of Hajj and Umrah wins performance excellence award​

JEDDAH: The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has taken first place in the excellent corporate performance category at the Madinah Award Foundation’s ceremony.

The event, which was held at Taibah University’s Conference Hall on Wednesday, was attended by Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman, who is also chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees, and Hajj and Umrah Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.

The ministry said in a press statement that the award was the result of its efforts in supporting innovation in institutional performance and preparing guides for Hajj and Umrah operations, which included follow-up procedures to achieve performance indicators.

It also stressed its digital transformation, the spreading awareness of responsibility, integrity, justice and transparency, and its encouragement of employees to participate in community activities and volunteer work.

Some 26 entities had applied for the award for the best government-performing organization.

Al-Rabiah expressed his appreciation to Prince Faisal for organizing the award, which he said aimed to encourage departments to achieve excellence.

He added that the ministry would not have achieved the distinction had it not been for the directives of its leadership which sought to help worshippers on their journeys to the holy places.
