When my best friend gets admission into Medical School and I hope the Medical Board made a mistake, and her success becomes sorrow for me--- then that is Hasad.
When someone is being praised and my heart starts to sink, and I try my best to say something that will degrade that person or take the attention off—beware that is Hasad.
When your sister-in-law drives her new Mercedes to your place, and you wish she gets into an accident on the way back home, then check yourself---- as that is Hasad.
When everyone is happy and congratulating your only sister, as she is getting married soon, and you wish something awful happens to her before the big day so that she cannot get married, then you should know -----that that is Hasad.
When your friend’s son graduates from University and yours is still struggling to get in, and you wish that your friend’s son never gets a job, then sit back and think---- isn’t that Hasad?
When you visit your friend’s new home, and you wipe your dirty hands with the beautiful off-white drapes, then do not fool yourself---- as that is Hasad.
When your friend asks you to help her with her party of the year, and you add too much water to the punch---you might not admit it---- but that is Hasad.
When everyone is praising and enjoying your mother in law’s food, and you mention the Korma in which she added the salt twice by mistake, you are deceiving yourself if you think it was just a slip of the tongue---- as that is Hasad.
When my friend is doing better than me at school and I pray she gets sick and misses a lot, then I should know----it is nothing else but Hasad.
