My 8th grade S.S teacher who is asking me alot about islam. Sometimes i dont have the exact awnser and i dont know what to do because i do not want him to think that muslims do not know about their own religion and i want to explain it to him without hurting his feelings cause he is a christian.
I live in a small in town America by the way and i Am only 13 so i aint a expert or anything but i try my best to learn my religion. So i do not hav alot of muslim brothers (and muslim sisiters) to ask.

selam aleykum MutlekM,i think you can't explain Islam in some words.If he really curious about Islam then you can guide him to this forum.There are many experienced and knowledgeable Muslim brothers here.They can explain him properly.If you need only one word Islam is peace

There are many things that can be said but I think your teacher is trying to understand you more than about Islam.

This is what I suggest, You know surah Fatihah right,

learn and memorize what it means in English,

And give the teacher these 7 verses that are repeated over 17 times a day and explain to him this is what we ask Allah for as a muslim.

:salam2: what means having knowledge about a religion? the basic or deep with its reason and so on? if you mean basic then muslim may know, but if you mean little deep, then not majority muslims know it. if you dont know the answeres dont say something. its better to remain silent instead saying the "not-exact" things. knowing about religion doesnt mean you have to also memorise it and answer others. note his questions, look for those in books inshalllah and then answer him.

is he asking what is islam or is he mocking you? this happens a lot to me here in UK. some are curious, some racists just like to mock. but most are very friendly.

Ayman1 is right. you can start by saying these things if he is curious.
if he is mocking you then you can tell him to go to an islamic center and find out from there. or from your parents.

Dear brother, Assalaamu Alaykum.

You can start by saying that

• Islam is a religion that teaches that only Allah is God and that Muhammad, peace be upon him, is the last and final prophet and messenger of God,
  
• Islam teaches that each of us is responsible for his or her own salvation and will be questioned individually on the day of judgment. Those who believed in God and complied with His guidance will go to heaven and those who didn't will go the hellfire,
  
• Islam acknowledges all previous prophets and messengers, from Adam to Jesus and all scriptures such as the Torah, the Psalms and the Gospel,
  
• Islam is a religion for all humanity, and for all times.

As your teacher starts to ask specific questions, you can refer these questions to us here and many brothers and sisters will be able to answer them, insha-Allah. Better yet, tell your teacher about TTI

I'm proud of you my brother. You are only 13 but already have the desire to do daawa (I think so, though you may not realised it yet). What our brothers said here is true. Just follow their advice. When you talk to him, tell him that if you do not know the answer, allow you to go and ask someone and revert to him asap. Start with very basic about Islam, I'm sure there are a lot of books you can refer to.

"IF RELIGION IS BETWEEN ALLAH AND HIS SERVANT,
WHY DO WE COMMUNICATE ISLAM'S MESSAGE TO OTHER PEOPLE?"

"RELIGION IS ONLY A PART OF LIFE. SO,
WHY DO PEOPLE NEED TO LIVE BY THE QUR'AN'S VALUES IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE?"

"DOES THE QUR'AN,
WHICH WAS REVEALED IN SEVENTH-CENTURY ARABIA , ADDRESS TODAY'S NEEDS?"

"IF THE QUR'AN'S MORALITY PROMISES SUCH A GOOD AND
PERFECT STRUCTURE, THEN WHY DOES IT HAVE SO MANY ENEMIES?"

"ONCE PEOPLE EMBRACE FAITH, CAN THEY STILL BEFRIEND THE PEOPLE WITH WHOM THEY USED TO ASSOCIATE?"

Asalamo Aleikum brother,

You can try to listen to his question, and answer them if you have the knowledge if you are sure of it. Don't feel bad if you didn't know the answer, we are all knowledge seekers in this life, even the very old people wouldn't know all the answer. Allah is the only knowledgeable one. If you didn't know the answer tell him you will try to find out and will return with answer. Nothing wrong with that. You can post them here and lots of wonderful brother and sister would help you good answer Inshaa Allah.

You can start by giving your teacher some brochure, books, websites, ...etc to answer his question and to know more about Islam. Maybe you can ask Him to attend some lectures in Mosque if he is really interested in Islam.

May Allah give you the means to be a good Muslim and follow the righteous path

My teacher is very nice and asks me with patience and he even tells me that if he goes too deep than i could tell that i cant go that far i even him how we do prayers and which do we pray and y. He doesnt go that deep but i just dont want to say anything wrong cuz it will hurt muslims all around the world.
