Two Week Starter Course - For Kidz
In the 2 week holiday break we at AC would like to take this opportunity to give children from age 6-10 a starter course in learning about Islaam. We want to supply a fun learning environment to encourage and interest children to continue their quest in learning about their religion and the Qur’an. In the near future we will also be offering continuous classes in Islamic and Qur’an studies. This will be a fantastic opportunity for your child to be able to join us later in our classes to learn the Qai’dah and effectively be able to recite and read and memorise the Qur’an. Those who attend this course will be given precedence in our future classes as places will be limited.
Children will be taught how the letters of the Arabic language are pronounced from the correct place of articulation. How to write the letters. What the letters look like when they are written at the beginning of a word, in the middle of a word and at the end of a word.
Children will be taught the similarities in groups of letters and distinguishing between all the sounds. Our aim is to have the child confidently be able to say the Arabic alphabet and mentally be aware of the places where each letter is articulated from in order to noticeably distinguish between the sounds.
We will be teaching children according to their capabilities surahs from the Qur’an. Reciting with tajweed and explaining the importance of memorising surahs from the Qur’an. One important reason is that children at this age are approaching the time when it is obligatory for them to observe the 5 daily prayers. The more surahs they memorise will aid them in gaining the necessary concentration and reflection during prayer.
Children will be taught the reward for reciting each letter and the status of those who recite teach and memorise Qur’an. If a child has memorised parts of the Quran from before we will endeavour to correct their recitation and perfect their tajweed insha Allaah.
We have selected some daily Adhkaar (remembrance) for children to learn, understand and implement in their daily lives. We hope to instil in the child an awareness of remembering Allaah throughout the day. We hope to convey to the children a feeling of achievement and excitement in remembering to say their daily dua’s by giving daily tick charts and other resources.
We would like to also integrate into this starter course the importance of the 5 daily prayers. Children will be taught what is necessary for their salah to be accepted and what negates their salah being accepted. How to make wudhoo. The positions in salah. What needs to be recited and what gains extra reward if it is recited during and after salah. Children will be taught the importance and benefits of the 5 daily prayers taken from the Qur’an and sunnah.
We hope insha Allaah to revive Islaam in children. We want children to have a positive firm foundation at this age where they are the most influenced and recipient to information. We hope this insha Allaah will give them a desire to learn further happily and confidently to pursue the path to knowledge of Islaam.
