How goes the fasting?

Salam Wa Laykum, brothers and sisters, I hope this year's Ramadan has been going well. Insha Allah, by the end of the month, we'll be better muslims than when we started, and we will keep this up, not just during Ramadan, but throughout all the other months.

So, this year, how has the fasting been going? There's no better time than now to be racking up the good deed count, and there are numerous ways to do this. We notice that when we fast, we usually find that we have more spare time than usual. Well don't let that valuable time go to waste.

So, have you:

-Had more trouble fasting this year than last?
-Found yourself more busy doing good things?
-Bad things?
-Found yourself with less time free than last year?
-Learned more about Islam than last year?
-Met a relative you haven't seen last year?
-Found yourself talking to a cat?
-Eaten food you haven't had last year?
-Prayed more optional prayers than before?

Whatever's happened, how has your fasting been, brothers and sisters?

I'm your brother
Salam Wa Laykum, brothers and sisters,

Wa'alaikumsalam.

So, have you:

-Had more trouble fasting this year than last?
Only on first two days, I was little bit impatient.

-Found yourself more busy doing good things?
Of course, we now on 14th day of Ramadan, feel like just started fasting yesterday.

-Bad things?
Only good things.

-Found yourself with less time free than last year?
Yes.

-Learned more about Islam than last year?
Certainly. Our masjid was instructed by the religious dept to ensure there are religious talks or else action will be taken.

-Met a relative you haven't seen last year?
Lost a sister in Islam yesterday. She passed away after having trouble giving birth to her second child. The baby did not make it also earlier and she yesterday. It was full of sorrow at the grave yard yesterday after Magrib. But Allah knows best. May He grant her jannatul firdous. Ameen.

-Found yourself talking to a cat?
I don't understand.

-Eaten food you haven't had last year?
Not really.

-Prayed more optional prayers than before?
This year I give priority to quality, not quantity. But trying my best to increase them. I may go for make it or break it kind of thing on last 10 days because I will be on long leave from work until Eid.

Whatever's happened, how has your fasting been, brothers and sisters?
MashAllah, no word to describe. I've been reading Qur'an more than last year, I think this is remarkable achievement for my self. Our sheikh advised not to aim to read whole Qur'an by end of the Ramadan like previous years but at the end know nothing what you have been reading. He advised that give more focus on reading as well as understanding what you have been reading via tafseer or at least the translation. I think this is valid point.

:mashallah: :mashallah: :mashallah: that's very nice to hear. I'm sorry about our lost sister. Ameen to that.

As for the cat thing, that was a joke. :)
