Hijrah is an important matter in Islâm, So I wonder how is Morocco? You can also discuss about your own countries. Morocco sounds interesting and Jordan too. 37 million lives in Morocco.

my husband is maroccan and I've come from there some days ago.I know Settat, the birth place of my husband.it is a simple country, where you can see people marching on their charriots or bringing the water directly from the holes of the deep ground.
we have a home in Rabat,Messira, how beautiful is Medina and Salè!I see another kind of landscape, better than Itlay.in Morocco nobody looks at me strangerly, there are men, women and children walking together, but I rarely have seen those ashameful scenes of kisses or effusions that in italy are normal.people go around more dressed.I'm sure that there are some places in which the occidental influence has kept many people and they dress like italian(mini-skirts,piercings...)but Morocco is a little paradise on the earth.I went to Marrakech in 2006,I visited Oulid iya,I swam in the sea of that country.I really see people living their life freely.Italy is a frozen place, where people live like machines, while in Morocco, everybody works, prays, plays and lives its life without any impositions.when I went out with my husband in the evening,I used to go to Bouitat,in G 5(ji cinq)and there my eyes shined of happiness, because in one part of the road people sold fruits, vegetables,in another part people cooked the meat and everybody could eat it on the road in a slice of bread;and on the other side of the road there were all sorts of clothes, toys, objects of the home...My heart cries, because I left half of my soul in Morocco.I hope in sh Allah to go there as soon as possible.

Alhamdulillâh. So you are in Italy with your husband. Do you live in Italy or are just there for a short time?

I wonder where the Religious Muslims in Morocco live, of course they must be around somewhere in Morocco. I don't like Sufism... So what do the Moroccans work with. How do they earn money. I have been to Egypt twice, and most people drive taxis and run Bakery-store/restaurants/Internet cafes etc..

Edit: When I wrote countries, I meant Muslim nations not Canada. I don't want to make hijrah to a Non-Muslim nation.

Morocco sound very nice masha Allaah. I can't tell you about Canada because it's a whole country and I've only been to a few cities...the city I live in is just a normal town...just houses and people and few Muslims. I feel lonely.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Morocco!!!! Yes I agree with much of what sister hayat84 said except the part about eating the food from the sidewalk venders (may Allah forgive me) I dont trust anything except what my mother in law cooks or I cook myself!

I lived in the USA all of my life until last year and Morocco is the only country outside of the USA that I have ever lived in. I might not be a good judge of other countries but I am very happy that Morocco chose me to live in if I had to leave my own country. I say Morocco chose me because I did not make a conscience effort to seek out Morocco and it was purely by fate that I ended up here!

When I first got here I thought it was a pretty primative place and I had alot of problems especially in the small village where I live with my husband. His parents have a house in Agadir which is a touristic town and very modern compared to our village which is called Targante and is between Agadir and Casablanca. The nearest large town would be Essaouira for anyone who is familiar with Morocco.

The city of Agadir is a metropolis that is very comfortable to anyone who is used to city living. It is a bustling normal city in my opinion. You are able to catch a taxi going just about anywhere so that is very convenient. Most of the cafe's and shops are open very late which is also very convenient. You are able to buy almost anything you can think of in the souks.

In the village it is a completely different story! I had a very very difficult time getting used to our life there. We have a small house that my husband was able to get through his work Alhamdulillah. When I arrived from the USA that little house was overrun by ants and roaches of sizes I had never seen in my life!!!!! I also ran across a giant spider in our bedroom one day while my husband was at work!!!! I thought surely I would DIE in Morocco the first few months I was living here. Most of the time we had no running water inside the house and half of the time there was no electricity!!!!! To make matters worse I was forced to wash clothes by hand which I had never done before in my life!!!! There was no television because everytime we tried to get the satelite dish hooked up the wind was so powerful the satelite dish couldnt hold up!!!

I prayed so hard for the patience to endure my new life and alhamdulillah Allah made things much easier. I have really come to appreciate Morocco in a way I never expected and now my life here is so much nicer. In our house in the village we put down poison to fix the insect problem and it has worked wonders. The village fixed the water problem so now we have running water all of the time Alhamdulillah. The electric rarely goes out anymore and when it does its not out for very long Alhamdulillah. One of my husbands co-workers came and nailed the satelite dish down so now we have television even if it is super windy out! Alhamdulillah!!!

The thing I love about Morocco the most are the people. You will never find anywhere else in the world a warmer, more compassionate and considerate group of people than in Morocco. Morocco is a country known for its hospitality and I for one am witness that this is the truth! Alhamdulillah I am so lucky that I had the opportunity to experience life here in this beautiful country! May Allah bless and keep Morocco and its people safe and in strong Iman Ameen.

I was born in The West, so it means many thing was comfortable in the homes. I mean for example, i've been to Middle East and Africa. Their toilets are not good etc.... the electricity could be gone sometimes and no water. That was very hard for me. I can live without electricity for short times and water too. Water is needed for Wudû`.. and I want a good toilet with showers of course. Not a toilet in the floor.

Akhi, I know exactly what you're saying but these are the trials of hijrah. In fact, it is those very concerns that some Muslims have when it comes to considering hijrah and unfortunately it prevents them from undertaking it sometimes. However, for those who do, it is a firm rejection of dunya over akhirah and alhamdulillah, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala makes it work for them.

However, a locale more "suitable" to the needs of Westerners would probably be the UAE or possibly even the Gulf States. I have an uncle who made hijrah there with his family but he chose to settle in Abu Dhabi as it was the most conservative of the bunch.

It is my personal belief though that the more hardship a Believer faces for His Sake, the greater the reward. And through Allah's Mercy, he ends up making it work for you.

Oh and by the way, many homes in Muslim countries have the Western toilets in addition to the ones on the floor.

You are right. I remember like exactly a week ago a brother mentioned how people are busy with thinking about the negative things. He asked us, for what reason did we make Hijrah. For Islamic reasons [Like helping the Dîn] or to live softly?

To me UAE is so Western, I was in Dubai in 2001 and that was long time ago. So what about today - 2011? Thanks for the reminder, we should remember that a believer in hardships will get more rewarded than a believer who doesn't live with hardships. Do not forget to say 'Astaghfirullâh' many times.

Oh and by the way, many homes in Muslim countries have the Western toilets in addition to the ones on the floor.
Yes that's how it was when I was in different countries.

Oh yeah did I mention the toilet in the floor problem????!!!!! Yeah that was a HUGE obstacle but Alhamdulillah I did overcome it finally!

Im happy to read that I will get reward for my troubles but honestly after all it was worth it! I feel happy to know this way of life! I feel blessed that Allah has shown me more than one way to live and it has certainly made me appreciate where I came from! Alhamdulillah

in Dubai, you will be welcomed by Filipino in short skirt, if you are going through Emirates Terminal, who will complain you of not being able to understand what she is saying. You Have to Lower your Gaze. The 'awesome' feel that you are in muslim land, will vanish immediately. Atleast that was what happened to me. I was like, "Thank God, it is only a transit".
If someone here is closer to the Sheikh of Dubai, please ask him to put a guy/or a girl who dresses modestly to help the passengers/show directions.

I'm not what you believe
in 2006 I entered for the first time in the house in the country of my husband.there was no electricity, current water...I ate at the light of a candle and washed my clothes with my hands.it was a beautiful experience, because I like simplicity and am able to arrange myself in each situation.I thought how could the mother of my husband deliver 7 children and take care of all of them in a so poor country.then I understood that the real poorness is in the heart of the ones who don't content for what they have.about the food in the sidewalk,I aometimes ate something and it never harmed me.the thing that scares me a little are the scorpions in the country.there some bleck or brown scorpions, that I don't use to go there when it's too hot, until in sh Allah my husband will build a new house with all the comforts.I like Morocco for its genuinity.indeed I see people living their reality, while many italians are "obliged" to live always in the cleanliness, they always have current water, television, the cold in summer and the warmth in winter...I wonder how would they react in front some natural catastrophe!in Italy there is no place to go except cinema,discotheque,mcDonald's,pubs....In Morocco there is always an opened mosque, the roads are full of people who smile,cry,watch...I don't perceive the same hypocrisy that I perceive here in Italy, where you have to smile even if you don't feel happy:girl3:
