How to perform Taraweeh prayers?

Assaalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

Sorry for being a newbie here. Can somebody explain step-by-step on how to do Taraweeh prayers? I have done some researches online, and they are not quite clear. It is a set of 2 rakats, right? Altogether would be 8 rakats, and after each 2 rakats, you make the taslim. Then after those 8 rakats, there's another 2 rakats for Shaf and 1 rakat for Witr?

Or am I missing something?

Yup the way you described is correct, however I do not know what "shaf" is, but Witr can be prayed as three, and you can do tasleem after 2 rakahs and then pray one rak`ah on its own, and this is prescribed in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah :Saw2:

You can recite Qunoot in witr in the third rak`ah after coming back from rukoo` as well, and it is sunnah to recite it sometimes and not recite it sometimes, and Allaah knows best

sorry but what's shaf and taslim????

Also here they pray four rakat together and some say more is allowed like 6,8??is there some truth in that??
