Wa'Alaykumassalam Warahmatullah

I think what you heard is the incident which happened in Khaybar.
After the conquest of Khaibar, a Jewish woman called Zainab bint Al-Harith offered the Prophet (Peace be upon him) a roasted sheep she had poisoned. He took a mouthful, but it was not to his liking so he spat it out. After investigation, the woman confessed that she had stuffed the food with poison alleging that if the eater were a king, she would then rid herself of him, but should he be a Prophet, then he would be bound to learn about it. The Prophet (Peace be upon him), however, connived at her treacherous attempt, but ordered that she be killed when Bishr bin Al-Bara’ died of that poison.

Some people doubt that the prophet may have died from poisoning. As a result of eating from the poisoned sheep that was offered to him by the Jewish woman, is this true?.

Praise be to Allaah.

It is proven by the scholars who studied the Prophet’s biography in detail that he ate mutton that had been poisoned by a Jewish woman in Khaybar, then the leg of mutton spoke and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that it was poisoned, so he stopped eating it. When his final illness came, he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “O ‘Aa’ishah, I still feel the pain of the food that I ate in Khaybar, and this time I feel that my aorta is being cut from that poison.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh. So there is no room for doubt that this poison affected his body, since it is proven in al-Saheeh and elsewhere.

And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. End quote.

Assalam Alaikum:

Some one learned told me that during battle of Tabuk,A Jewish lady invited Muhammad (SAW) for a meal. She did put poison in the dish served to Prophet (SAW) and Sahaabi who accompanied the Prophet (SAW). Sahaabi was martyr perhaps on the spot. But Prophet (SAW) survived. During last days of his life Prophet (SAW) said to Hadhrat Aisha that the poison given to him (SAW) by Jewish woman is cause of physical problems He (SAW) is experiencing now.

As told by the Scholar to me.

Allah knows best.

Regards.

If this be reason of his death than what should we assume? Prophet(SAW) died due to poisoning is it more like a murder ?:astag:

No, it was the will of Allah SWT.

If I remember correctly, RasulAllah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) had been given a choice to enjoy the life in this dunya, or the next, and he chose the next life. And it was after 3 days of this decision that the syptoms of his disease started, leading to his death.

The poisoning could very well have led to disease and death, but it wasn't a poisoned murder, right? More like the after effects.

yeah i think so.
it was definitely an attempted murder.

:wasalam:,

we are missing an extremely important matter here. if prophet :saw2: passed away by this reason, it means Allah granted him martyrdom as well.

thats another great blessing of our Lord which He grants to whom He wills!

^ Actually, that was something I'd always heard. That the pain of the poison stayed with RasulAllah :saw: and that it contributed to his death, thus making him a shaheed.

Then again, I also heard that the poisoned lamb spoke to him and told him that it had been poisoned so I'm not sure. Daleel overrules in any case. :)

in any case that jewish woman did attempt to murder rasulallah. The intent was there and that alone is enough to charge for murder.
