I feel like this is a silly question but I need to ask..

I was thinking earlier about a lot of things. Mainly about death and what happens after death. I know that none of us have died before (obviously) so this question may not have an answer.

But, I was thinking about when we die we are judged. Okay, now this is where the silly question comes. Everyday, every minute someone dies. There's only one God, now how does God judge all those people? :shymuslima1: Now I doubt anyone has the answer to that, unless it explains all this in the Qur'an, but I was really thinking about it lol. :shymuslima1:

Salaam,

Are you saying how does God judge so many dead people at once since he is only One?

If yes, then my answer is that our minds are limited in ways that God's is not. It beyond our thinking. God the Almighty created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, and we humans think this universe is huge, but to Allah swt it's nothing, it's probably a dot. We don't give human attributes to the Creator. I hope that helped.

salamu alaykum

well, that is the point of being ALlah who He is. The one who created everything is not able to know everything about its creation? The one who makes a car, definitelly knows everything from beats and pieces to how it functions. And when it breaks, he knows how to fix it. A computer can only do as much as it is programmed. It can run only as fast as the person made it to run. Allah sva created us as He sva wanted, and he gave us that what He sva wanted. He also gave us the knowledge of what He wanted, and didnt give us the knowledge of what He didnt want us to know. Do you think that creating the galaxies, stars, planets, 7 heavens, angels, jinns, is harder then us? Sister, those questions are from shaytan, so you should ignore them. Shaytan is trying to make u doubt in Allah sva. Shaytan will ask you the same question like this "if Allah created everything, then who created Allah?" This is a point where u stop and dont question because we are the creation and ALlah sva is not part of His creation. Allah is not like HIs creation which is created, therefore He sva is not created. We have to believe in ALlah sva and go as far in believe about Him sva as much as He described himself to us in the Quran or sunnah and we do not go further then that. Everytime those ugly thoughts comes to ur mind, you and all of us should seek refuge to ALlah sva from shaytan.

:salam2: sister,

I thank you for being humbled with your question and you probably ask the most important question that can be ask by a muslim .... It is about aqeedah or the creed.
My advice is you might want to search on TTI for some information on creed/ aqeedah written by credible scholars ....

By the way , Great question......

Dear Sister,
Though Allah SWT can surely judge each and everyone as and when they die as He is capable and He only needs to say 'Be' and it is but the Quran and authentic reports from the Prophet tells us how things will take place after one dies.

Question:
Can you please tell me what are the trials of the grave that we ask allah (saw) to save us from.

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:
When the son of Adam dies and his soul departs and he is placed in his grave, then he is in the first stage of the Hereafter, because the grave is the first of the stages of the Hereafter.
It was narrated that Haani’ the freed slave of ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan said: when ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affaan stood by a grave he would weep until his beard became wet. It was said to him, “You remember Paradise and Hell and you do not weep, but you weep because of this?” He said, “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘The grave is the first of the stages of the Hereafter; whoever is saved from it, whatever comes afterwards will be easier for him, but if he is not saved from it, what comes afterwards will be worse for him.’” And the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have never seen any scene but the grave is more frightening than it.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2308; Ibn Maajah, 4567; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1684).

Secondly:
The two angels who are charged with questioning come to him and ask him what he used to believe in in this world, who was his Lord, what was his religion and who was his Prophet. If he gives a good answer, that is good, but if he does not answer them they inflict a severe and painful beating on him.
If he was one of the righteous, angels with white faces come to him, but if he was one of the evildoers, angels with dark faces come to him. This is the fitnah or tribulation that he suffers.

Thirdly:
With regard to the questions that the angels will ask in the grave, this is explained clearly in the following hadeeth:
It was narrated that al-Bara’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: We went out with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for the funeral of a man from among the Ansaar. We came to the grave and when (the deceased) was placed in the lahd, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sat down and we sat around him, as if there were birds on our heads (i.e., quiet and still). In his hand he had a stick with which he was scratching the ground. Then he raised his head and said, “Seek refuge with Allaah from the torment of the grave”, two or three times. Then he said, “When the believing slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with white faces like the sun, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. They bring with them shrouds from Paradise and perfumes from Paradise. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and he says, ‘O good soul, come forth to forgiveness from Allaah and His pleasure.’ Then it comes out easily like a drop of water from the the mouth of a waterskin. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in that shroud with that perfume, and there comes from it a fragrance like the finest musk on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this good soul?’ and they say, ‘It is So and so the son of So and so, calling him by the best names by which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They ask for it to be opened to them and it is opened, and (the soul) is welcomed and accompanied to the next heaven by those who are closest to Allaah, until they reach the seventh heaven. Then Allaah says: ‘Record the book of My slave in ‘Illiyoon in the seventh heaven, and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to it I will return them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So his soul is returned to his body and there come to him two angels who make him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Allaah.’ They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘My religion is Islam.’ They say, ‘Who is this man who was sent among you?’ He says, ‘He is the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).’ They say, ‘What did you do?’ He says, ‘I read the Book of Allaah and I believed in it.’ Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘My slave has spoken the truth, so prepare for him a bed from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a gate to Paradise.’ Then there comes to him some of its fragrance, and his grave is made wide, as far as he can see. Then there comes to him a man with a handsome face and handsome clothes, and a good fragrance, who says, ‘Receive the glad tidings that will bring you joy this day.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.’ He says, ‘I am your righteous deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’ But when the disbelieving slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with black faces, bringing sackcloth, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and he says, ‘O evil soul, come forth to the wrath of Allaah and His anger.’ Then his soul disperses inside his body, then comes out cutting the veins and nerves, like a skewer passing through wet wool. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in that sackcloth, and there comes from it a stench like the foulest stench of a dead body on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this evil soul?’ and they say, ‘It is So and so the son of So and so, calling him by the worst names by which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They ask for it to be opened to them and it is not opened.” Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited (interpretation of the meaning):
“for them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle”
[al-A’raaf 7:40]
He said: “Then Allaah says, ‘Record the book of My slave in Sijjeen in the lowest earth, and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to it I will return them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So his soul is cast down.” Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited the verse (interpretation of the meaning):
“and whoever assigns partners to Allaah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place”
[al-Hajj 22:31]
He said: “Then his soul is returned to his body, and there come to him two angels who make him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘Prepare for him a bed from Hell and clothe him from Hell, and open for him a gate to Hell.’ Then there comes to him some of its heat and hot winds, and his grave is constricted and compresses him until his ribs interlock. Then there comes to him a man with an ugly face and ugly clothes, and a foul stench, who says, ‘Receive the bad news, this is the day that you were promised.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which forebodes evil.’ He says, ‘I am your evil deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, do not let the Hour come, do not let the Hour come.’”
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4753; Ahmad, 18063 – this version was narrated by him. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1676.
The correct view is that the two angels will only question the deceased in his grave about matters of Tawheed (monotheism) and ‘aqeedah (belief). This is quite clear.
And Allaah knows best

Continuation of the above post

:salam2:

This is in continuation of the above and inshaAllah in the next post I will summarise it.
When the son of Adam dies, his body disintegrates and vanishes apart from the tailbone, which is a bone at the base of the spine. When the Resurrection begins, Allaah will cause the bodies to grow by means of rain from the earth which will make these bones grow until each person’s body is restored to the way it was before he died.
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘What is between the two Trumpet-blasts will be forty.’ Somebody asked, ‘Forty days?’ But I could not answer. Then he asked, ‘Forty months?’ But I could not answer. Then he asked, ‘Forty years?’ But I could not answer.” Abu Hurayrah added, “Then (after this period) Allah will send water from the sky and then the dead bodies will grow like vegetation grows. There is nothing of the human body that does not decay except one bone; that is the little bone at the end of the coccyx from which the human body will be recreated on the Day of Resurrection.”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4651; Muslim, 2955).
Al-Nawawi said:
“The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘What is between the two Trumpet-blasts will be forty.’ Somebody asked, ‘Forty days?’ But I could not answer…” What is meant is that he refused to specify whether it would be forty days, or years, or months. Rather what he was sure of was that it would be just forty. It is explained in another report narrated by someone other than Muslim, which says that it will be forty years.
The phrase “the little bone at the end of the coccyx” refers to the small bone at the base of the spine, which is the end of the coccyx. This is the first part of a person that is created, and it is what will be left of him so that he will be created anew from it.

Question:
Could u please tell us relating the 'Day of judgement' it's tortures, the questions that wud be asked.

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

It is proven in the Qur’aan and Sunnah that when a person dies, he will be called to account for every major and minor action he did in this world, whether it was good or bad. He will be rewarded for his good deeds and punished for his bad deeds. The first stage of that reckoning is in the grave. In the grave the first thing a person will be asked will be: Who was your Lord? What is your religion? Who is this man who was sent amongst you? – as was narrated in the hadeeth of al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him), which was narrated by Abu Dawood in his Sunan (4753) and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2979.

Then on the Day of Resurrection he will be brought to account for every major and minor action, even though he has already been brought to account for that in the grave.

And the nations will be asked on the Day of Resurrection:
“What answer gave you to the Messengers?”
[al-Qasas 28:65 – interpretation of the meaning]

These are some of the things about which people will be asked on the Day of Resurrection. So the wise person who is keen to save himself should prepare answers to these questions. We ask Allaah to guide us to the straight path.
And Allaah knows best.

Summary

:salam2:

Summary of the above two posts.

When one dies they are questioned first by the angels and then they stay there till the final day or hour that we all know as the JUDGEMENT DAY. On that day people will be resurrected and will be gathered and judged by Allah SWT. Their names will be called one by one and they will have to answer five major questions and whatever other than that Allah SWT deems fit. Their deeds will be weighed as well. Then they will be given their certificates whether they passed the test or not and then will be sent to their respective destinations.
And Allah knows best.

Just know Allah sw is beyond time, space, energy, and matter, all He has to say is Be and it is...I think it's best not to think about those sort of things, our tiny minds are not equiped for comprehending such things.

What follows is just my understanding and not a scholarly answer based on Quran and Hadith.

Your question is "while God is one, how can he deal with so many people/events that occur in different places at the same time?"

Some said you should not ask such questions.

These questions are genuine that come to mind.
They should be asked, but from knowledgable people who have the knowledge of tawheed and creed (it is a broad and comprehensive section of Islamic studies).

My comprehension is as follows:

I used to be a security controller. I was working in a room where i was watching cameras that were covering a very vast area of several building sites.
Mostly, it would be two of us, but sometimes i used to do this alone.
I was one person, but monitoring situations at several locations at the same time.
Another example:
In a modern day factory, a single computer operates and monitors several tasks at the same time and interacts with numerous robots etc.

Furthermore, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has obedient creatures called angels in numbers unimaginable to us. They do exactly what they are ordered to do.

Lastly, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is far greater, wiser and knowledgable than we can imagine.

If he can fit tremendous amount of energy in a single atom and turn non living elements into living and thinking living beings, it is much simpler for HIM to record and produce 100% account of our actions at the same time for many individuals.

Photo capturing devices and voice recorders are all very simple examples of how easy it is for the creator to have our accounts ready and judgement decided as soon as we are dead.

"...Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth." 2:255

I hope i clarified the matter a bit.
Allah knows best

Salaams sis

I dont think anyone is telling you you are wrong to ask this stuff...it is wonderful that you are thinking about Allah swt.

The simple answer I think really is this:

We as humans are limited. We are born, we die. Our bodies are limited - thers only so much the human body can do or take before it gives up. We age. Our mind also are limited - we can only imagine and comprehend a limited range of things - for instance - try and imagine a long road that stretches for infinity...can you imagine it? can you see the beginning and the end? IS there an end? what is infinity? can we comprehend that? No...because our minds are limited.

Allah swt as we know is Unlimited. He has no boundaries like us. He was not born and He will not die. He will not age. He can do whatever He wills.

So...we are trying to imagine the UNlimited (Allah) with a limited tool (our minds)..by that very definition it cannot be done.

So basically what this means is that we have to accept by the very practicalities of it that we cannot ever know Allah swt completly. It seems incomprehendable that He could judge thousands upon thousands of people every minute all at the same time...but thats because we are not Allah swt. We can't judge him by our own limited standards and characteristics...do we even know, for instance, that time as we know it, exists in the same way after death? We don't!

Everything we know as humans cannot be taken for granted when it comes to Allah swt....the way we measure what is possible and impossible doesn't stand for Allah swt because He is beyond all boundaries, all measures, all markers and all characterisitics that we comprehend...

Dont worry if this confuses you or makes you feel like your head will spin and fall off your shoulders! Its normal....its just a measure of the wonder and glory and power of Allah swt - He is like nothing we know.

I hope this helps insha'allah

Wasalaams xx

asalamualaykum wa rahmatullah,

Look at it this way type islam in google and see how many results you get in a second? 97 million searches of the word islam in 0.5 seconds! and now know that is google made by a couple of guys using sinmple programmes in thier computer which was created simply by the numbers 1 and 0.

So the power of Allah cannot even be compared to mere 97 million o.5 seconds as our knowledge is not even amount to a drop in the ocean!

he is our Creator knower of all things!

:salam2:awb sis,

The prophet asw said, "Think of Allah's creation, not of Allah". (As reported by Aboo Nu'aym in his Al-Hiliah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, rated as a good tradion, Sahih Al-Jami.
And Allah sw knows best as to its authentication, but it makes sense to me.
I got it from an excellent book which I highly recommend everyone to read, it's called "Men and the Universe" Reflections of Ibn Al-Qayyem, by Capt. Anas Abdul-Hameed Al-Qoz, 2004, Darussalam.

Thank you everyone for the help..
