Alot of times it is the interpretation of the Christians that is the problem rather than the Bible itself. One also has to keep in mind that these are translations and not the original language. There are no authentic manuscripts or writings of the Bible in the original languages of Jesus (as) or Moses (as). These are translations of copies and copies of manuscripts in the Koine Greek language. Koine Greek is a dead language so the average Christian can only rely on translations and basically hope that the transltors are honest. Furthermore, anyone who speaks more than one language will know that it is basically impossible to translate word by word from one language to another and that too without mistakes. That is impossible and it is even harder to translate from a dead language that no one speaks today to a modern language and especially English. An English speaking native today would not be able to understand hardly anything of the English spoken 500 years ago unless one is a scholar of that language. Now imagine translating from a foreign language that is dead and ancient. There are only few scholars that speak or understand Koine Greek and one has to basically rely on them and hope they are being honest and keep in mind that they have corrupt manuscripts which are copies of copies, of copies which are supposed to be copied from the originals, and that is even if the original Gospel of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John were authentic and original. We Muslims believe in the Injeel which was the revelation God gave to Jesus(as).
None of the gospels in the modern Bible are the actual Injeel of Isa(as) because it is admitted that the earliest of these gospels were written at least 40 years after Jesus and the Gospel of John which is different from the other 3 is the last one written of the current 4 in the New Testament, and it was written as last as 110 CE. They may contain parts of the original injeel that was given to Jesus(as) but it is not original nor is it easy to deal with them and even trust them since we do not have the originals to begin with. It is kind of risky to only rely on translations that are based on corrupted manuscripts and that too having to rely on Christian scholars and clergy men who have a business to run and who is willing to tell the truth if it means losing congregations, money and other benefits?
But it is still interesting that there are things in the Bible which seem to only fit prophet Muhammad (saaws) but the average Christian will not settle for it unless he/she is sincere and Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala guides them to the truth. I once tried to prove to one of my Christian friend that there are prophecies in the Bible about Muhammad(saaws) and he became offended, snatched the Bible out of my hand and said he would not allow me to prove my points or even put Muhammad(saaws) in the Bible. That is when I knew he was prejudice and unfair and I left it at that. He was nearly about cry and told me he respects my choice of Islam but I am not welcomed to prove my points from his scripture and definitely not in his presence. So I have found a different approach when dealing with the Christian scriptuire and I try to to inform the Christian of the historical enviorment in which Jesus(as) would have lived and I show them how the Bible is silent on the major atrocities taking place in the time period of Jesus. The Gospels portray Palestine as a peaceful place and an average reader will hardly notice that this was a violent and ugly time period and the land was under a brutal Roman occupation, but that is not the reality and that is why I am extremly careful when dealing with the Bible.
We have the Quran which is the verbatom word of God and it is preserved in its original form and we know valuable information about Jesus(as). Although there isn't a whole lot of information on Jesus in the Quran but there is very important and valuable information. One of the great miracles of the Quran, in my opinion, is the simple fact how God doesn't go into a whole lot of details when telling is about past events but He gives is valuable information in such a wise way and then we can take this inforamtion and apply it, put into historical context and get a very good idea and picture of Jesus. We know for sure that Jesus (as) was on the path of Moses (as) and the other prophets. We know he was a messenger of Allah, his servant and the Messiah. He was an upholder of the Torah, Tawhid and he got the injeel. Besides that, we also know that Jesus was sent to confirm the Torah and to announce the coming of the final messenger (saaws).
This is in the Quran and we know that this is true. We should know that Jesus could not have taught or been responsible for the shirk and kufr that is contained in the New Testament and especially in the Gospel of John which was the last one written and is heavily influenced by shirk. Jesus was sent to bring the Children of Israel back to the straight path and the party which was not on the right path wanted to execute him. They had good reasons to execute him and it wasn't like the Bible tries to tell us because he claimed to be God(astaghfirullah). If he had really claimed to be god as Christians assume, the Jews would have simply laughed at him and viewed him as a harmless lunatic. This is not the reality and the Jews nor the Romans would have killed him or crucified him for claiming to be God. Therefore that can't be the reason he was being feared and that the Romans and disbelieving Jews would want him dead.
This is Christian propaganda and that is the story they want us to swallow but we should know better as Muslims. If there is anything in the New Testament, and there are such instances, where Jesus is portrayed or recorded as having made mushrik statements, we should know that it is a lie and a fabrication. Alhamdulillah for having revealed the Quran to his final messenger Muhammad(saaws) and this scripture tells us what the kafirs are trying to conceal and hide.
