:salam2:

Recently, an old friend who I knew since 6th grade found me on Myspace and Facebook. We started talking and then, out of no where, he brought up religion. He was telling me to "be Christian" because he said it will "save me from Hell". I firmly believe in Islam! Nothing he said had affected my iman at all, alhamduillah! I told him that I firmly believe in Islam. I studied a lot about Islam, Christianity and Judaism so I know a lot, alhamduillah.

We had a little debate, he was quoting verses from the Bible, and I of course was refuting him the best I can. I really don't want to get involved in such a debate. I need your advice, brothers and sisters. Should I continue to refute him if he brings this up again, or should I just ignore him and remove him from my list? He is really trying to convert me, I see him on facebook asking his Christian friends for help to refute Islam, so I can see this will become a big religious debate. What should I do?

May Allah (SWT) reward you all! :)

wa alykum salam :)

from examples that i know , many christians who wanted sincerly to debate and convert to christianity by love they becam muslims.

i remember one new brother ( ex christian) who asked help of many christians forums and even a priest . he puted his questions and they was cleard every time by brothers in a specialist forum and his priest let him down and found no answers and also the christian forums have no answers.
then he accepted islam when he discover the truth in islam.

and Allah taala know best.
may Allah taala guid us all and him

wa salam alykum

Then I should show this "friend" of mine examples of how former Christians reverted to Islam.

Answering-Christianity.com is not working anymore, and I really needed that site. :(

I told him about the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) being mentioned in the Bible, I gave him a link to Islamqa, and of course I will have to use more of the links to refute him.

Is it ok if I post everything that he says so I can get help to refute him? I want to show him how false Christianity is, and maybe Allah (SWT) will guide him by his grace, inshallah. With all your help, I know we can spread the truth!

May Allah (SWT) make us all righteous and guide us all!

Continue the relationship, brother, until you sense "fundamentalism" on his part. By that I mean obstinance and repetition of issues that you have already replied to and refuted. That's when you know that the person is not listening and is simply repeating the mantra he heard from his priest. People with a sincere desire to know the truth will find it and we can help them find it by the grace of God, but people who have an agenda or mindlessly repeat their dogma without reflecting on them are hopeless.

May God guide your friend at your hands and guide you to clearly explain the truth to him.

Ameen!

I will try the best I can to explain to him the true Islam. He already seems to be brainwashed though, but I will try to refute him the best I can, and if I know for sure that he has closed his heart, then I would end it there.

to Allah we belong
unlike scholars, our knowledge and iman is less. so i'd advice u to be away frm the debate.

just tell him about islam's truth and move back.
