Salaam brother,

Da'wah is an obligation for us as muslims. Why don't you start small, from your family... and close friends. In sha Allah with knowledge Allah will help you.

p/s: I try to do this too, but in the beginning I cant help but feel I was being preachy. In sha Allah will be better :D

just get to know people around your environment. Talk to them in a normal way and have a sincere interest in their well being. Study more on the way to apply hikma.

I think when a person opens up and just talks normally to others, their perception will change from trying to have someone become muslim to one where you fear for this person in what punishment will be faced the day of judgement.

I have heard that online there are some that learn about Islam, but remember the internet is most widely used by those who care only to get entertainment. So you can do it online but it would be more better for u to use your environment and talk to store clerk, the barber, the bus company, students, and even people you know who are muslim but not performing their obligations. New muslims can also benefit from your knowledge and acts for you will show them the brotherhood/caring in Islam.

Lastly, ask Allah subhanna Wata3alla, for he is able to change the hearts.

Feel good about you brother, applying what you learn is the best for the life after death.

I've been doing like you brother.. I used to get nervous also.. but once I warm up I feel fine.. I think it has to do with the fact that I have not done it before and being scared of what they may throw at me unexpectedly. I think it takes practice.. I wish you were in my home town so we can practice on each other... Much of it is committing things to memory so you'll feel more confident when presented by a situation.. I have noticed that I got better after I started opening my mouth and trying with a few people. The more you do it, the better you'll become at it and the less nervous you will be.

Where are anyway?? Feel free to PM me.

Salam Brother Shaheer.

Allhamdullilah its great that you want to do dawah, i can relate to how you feel. I always used to practice islam but never talk about it too, i started asking myself why dont i tell ppl about Islam as its the only way to save them from the hellfire. The prophet mentioned in his last Khutbaa that we should pass on the message. I realized a lot of it had too do with me living 2 lives. In front of my muslim friends i was the 'shareef' boy and infront of my non muslim or non practicing friends i was the cool dude. I guess i didnt want to lose that cool dude image.

I tried to strengthen my iman by reading books about the prophet/Sahabis and slowly started telling ppl about islam... It requires sooooooooooo
much patience though. Many times i feel like banging my head on the wall thinking why these ppl DONT GET IT....

I think its every Muslims duty to pass on the message. First of all we need to differentiate ourselves from them. They dont see us praying, reading Quran etc. We need to be kind to them, be honest.. Small things make such a big difference.

I am assuming you know about cricket, wanted to tell a small story of our team. We have a Hindu on our team and remaining are Muslims. ONly 3-4 praying. One guy is really honest. You probably know when the batting team umpires that they dont give LBW and lie, this guy always used to be honest and ppl stopped sending him as an umpire :). Even i got so upset at him as others dont give LBW's why should we??? this guy mentioned that as a Muslim we shouldnt lie and god is always watching us. The hindu got really impressed with this and has started getting interested in Islam...

I personally bring up the topic of death, last day with my colleagues/ friends a lot. Nowadays 2012 ( or is it 2010?) is a good topic to bring up as its a theory that the world will end. I start by that and ask them what will happen after that and slowly bring Islamic points etc to them.... . Then send them some material/ then discuss. We got 5-6 ppl to enroll for the Islam 101 class here... . Inshallah they will be guided...

May allah strengthen your iman and you can guide others...

Salam
