This article covers some of the sunnahs of drinking:
1. Water and other halaal liquids should be consumed with the right hand. This is because Shaytaan (the devil) uses the left hand for eating and drinking.
2. To drink in 3 sips.
3. To recite Bismillah (In the name of Allah) beofre drinking and Alhamdulillah (All praise be to Allah) after drinking.
4. Don't blow into any hot liquid to cool it.
5. You should sit and drink. Nabi S.A.W. has prohibited us from standing and drinking.
6. There are exceptions to this - You should stand and drink zam-zam water and water left over after performing wudhu.
7. To soak dates or grapes in water at night and then drink this mixture in the morning. However, if this mixyure has become fermented due to excessive heat, drinking it is no longer permissible.
8. To read the dua before and after drinking water.
10. To use water that has been kept overnight for drinking the next day, provided that it has been kept covered.
11. You should not drink from a big container, like a jug or a large bottle. It's better to pour some into a glass and then drink from it.
13. Muslims cannot drink in gold or silver utensils.
14. Drinking water after meals in not a Sunnah practice of Nabi S.A.W. especially if the water is hot or cold.
