Is it permissible for a woman to slaughter an animal?

I guess I'll revive this thread.. I have a question. Do people get "rewarded" for slaughtering animals in the name of Allah? Just wondering..

No way, I can never ever do it. One of my biggest problems in cooking is actually washing the raw meat.

Whenever we sacrificed a goat on Eid ul Adha, my brothers and father would watch the butcher (and help them do it), but I would always retreat to an innner room, and try to block my ears when the poor thing started crying his lungs out..

We have a tiny little street in my city called "Gosht wali gali" (Meat street..) because butchers line both sides of the street for a little bit. I HATE going down there, and if I have to, I cover my nose and try not to look left or right and hurry up to get out of there.

everyone should slaughter at least once..

Subhanallah.. and Allah is the source of Strength,

I found out from personal experience that their is a hidden benefit in it.

Hidden benefit? What do you mean..? Do share, brother...

What woman would WANT to do it? o_O

Lol! I know of a few!=) My sister being one of them.. She used to slaughter the chickens on eid days while dad and the "men"(my brothers) handle the big stuff(insert eye roll)..goats, lambs, etc.

I personally find it cool! I know I won't be able to do it but still.. You sisters are making us look weak. Contrary to what some say, we(most of us women at least) CAN handle the sight of blood..

I remember my aunt once sacrificed a cow (or a buffalo),I don't remember exactly, because her husband my uncle had passed away and all her kids were still young so she was the only one who could do it.The thing is the buffalo ran midway between the slaughtering, with it's half head hanging ,until it was overpowered by some people and then the sacrifice was completed, was crazy when I heard it!
I did sacrifice a couple of goats when I was a kid, felt a bit sad but was ok later on.During eid ul adha me and my father would watch the goat being sacrificed but my mother would go and hide in the inner most corner of the house ,she cannot bear to hear the voice it makes. But it is for the sake of Allah and there is nothing wrong in it,these are just human emotions, that is the essence of sacrifice.
