Ok here's the thing. My village is 99% muslims and everyone knows almost everyother person. Here the young muslimahs have started wearing niqabs.... because its become fashionable these days to wear one. Anyway, funny thing is instead of reducing the rate of sinning, niqab has actually increased it and given a chance for them to get away with it also. Now Guyz have started dating niqabi sisters and taking them on motorbikes, and the people watching all think, ah he's taking his sister/mother or someone closely related to him. And a funny incident happened once. This niqabi girl was waiting at the bus stop, and a guy came in bike, kissed her over the niqab and left instantly. She didn't act at all mad. Now since she was wearing the niqab, no one knew who she was. So there was no punishment.

Earlier, Guys wouldn't dare to do this sorta thing because obviously they would be identified and reported to their parents and that would get them in serious trouble. So because of niqabs, its hard to identify the girl and the guys as always get away lol.

Local imams have said its better to ban the niqabs and make them wear a hijab instead because Niqab hasn't fulfilled its purpose.

So is niqab good at times like this or should it be banned?

I think that instead of banning Niqab your imams should teach people Taqwa i.e. Fear of Allah sobhanahu wa taala .....Islam talks to hearts of people:

    59:18 O YOU who have attained to faith! Remain conscious of God; and let every human being look to what he sends ahead for the morrow! And [once again]: Remain conscious of God, for God is fully aware of all that you do;

    Salam sis

this is unfortunatly true in dubai also if you ar wearing hijab you are the center of attraction and if you have no hijab that maens no one is intrested this is really really sad but Allhamdulillah girls and women with full face veil and hijab are never expose to such situations here

there was an interview on radio with an young emarati teenage girl
RJ: - how do you feel about your hijab or more specific the abaya ?
emarati teenage girl: - oh its just a part of my culture i wear it for the sake of my culture
i just wanted to share this to show how ignorence is increasing

may Allah protect us from ignorace the time of jahaliya and have mercy on the ummah of Propehet muhammad (saw) ameen

It depends on the person's intention-to please ALlah or hypoctites to hide their sin.Honestly even prostitutes wear niqab so that the police can't identify them.Thats how things are towards the end of the time.

I personally have seen niqabis dating and obviously not their husbands because husband and wife won't behave in such a manner in public.

It all comes to the intention. There is no point seeing other people and judging them.if we ourselves want to wear niqab and our intention is good, that is good enough.we can't change the world but we can change ourselves.

The same question can be applied on those warning hijab.why people wear hijab yet do haram things in public.Only Allah knows each and everyone's intention and will be judged one day In Sha Allah.

back to your question whether it is good or bad,it depends on yourself and your situation.if the niqab doesn't harm yourself..in sha Allah it is good.

    I agree 100%.

Objects aren't good or bad - its how people use them that make it good or bad. Niqab can harm society in different ways - some of which you've listed - and in some situations it can also be a good thing. The problem in your town are the people, not the clothes they're wearing.

we cannot ban a thing which is encouraged or is wajib (according to few scholars) in Islam.

as said above. teaching ppl *taqwa of Allah* should be the first thing.

instead of banning the niqab, let ur village have taliban or saudi type group of pious strong young men to patrol the area once or more. and if they find something fishy, let them handle it.

    and Allah knows best.

Why ban them, this should not be a reason to do so.

I have seen people disobey Allah, swt, and they went to a point that they really don't identify themselves as muslims anymore. They talk preferably to non-muslims in a more pleasing manner than muslims.

I also seen Allah, swt, replace them with better people, far better people.

    so who is the loser?

in any sense, you can't prevent vice completely. nor can you ignore it. You have to educate the people, the best you can, and the rest is up to Allah, swt.

as you know that you can use a knife to both to cut things and to kill human beings....... people use niqaab in both , good and bad ways......
in your case the only one thing which you can do is that you can make the youngsters understand the value of niqaab and give them an awareness about the punishment they may get for the sins they are committing....
may Allah forgive all of us........

Assalamu allaicum wa raahmatullah wa baarakatuhu

I have never heared for this before, and it is really making me sad that these kind of things are happening, it is aganist Islaam, and from any side to say, for keeping or banning niqab, I do not know what to say. I agree that your imams should teach young Muslims to Islaam, and try to teach them to more taqwa Inshallah, but I think if that does not bring any resolts, then it should be better that Muslim girls in your village dear sister, start wearing proper hijab instead of niqab, because if niqab in this case can couse more harm than good, it is better to not use it anymore as in this case is not accomplishing its purose. And Allah and His Messanger sallahu alyae wa salam knows the best.

May Allah guide us all on the right path. ameen summa ameen

yeah I agree. Islam is a free religion. It guides it´s followers with love and mercy to Allah. Not with chains and by forcing them.

    example:
there is a very nice dress which is simply of outstanding beauty and the person for whom this is designed is not able to wear it because he is beeing overweight. Now he can put the cloth on with force but it will not look good at him nor will he feel comfortable in it and probably the clothes will rip... Or he can decide to loose weight to wear the cloth... this will may take time but isn´t it wiser...?

The issue the sister has mentioned is not only about niqap. It is about the followers of the "ayips" and the followers of the "halal"

    :salam2:,

it may not make ppl devout but keep muslims of *weak faith* on right path and also protect society frm hypocrites.

muslims have always struggled for Islamic rule. why? what benefit it will bring to the faith of hyprocrites? but when you close shops for salah, ban drinking, gambling, prostitution, drugs, you save devouts frm the ways of the wrong ones.

majority of us are of weak faith, we need good society with strong authority to keep us on right track.

when there is no bad way, the will suppresses. :)

yes, Islam guides us with love and mercy. but sometimes we need a little more pressure. :)

eg. for 13 years, prophet (peace be upon him) did dawah peacefully in Makkah, only 300 became muslims. and during Makkah *conquest*, in single day more than 2000 became muslims.

    and Allah knows best.

First of all im not a sister although i think my nick does sound like it :D So im sorry. Second, I don't want to reveal the Village or the country, because then you'll think bad of it :p But im not making this up. This has happened although i know there are some very pious sisters in our village who do cover for Allah's sake. But these are some exceptional incidences that have taken place.

And i agree its all down to the intention.
We can even misuse our own salat by praying for show, and that will lead us to hellfire. Innamal a'malu binniyath.

I think that we must leave Islam because some muslims are killing others with the name of Islam.
I am not married and inshaallah when I marry I will search for a sister with a black burqa or niqab.
May Allah protect our niqabi and hijabi sisters.

you say that leave Islam and then you want to marry niqabi. i am totally confused!

why i should leave Islam if few bad muslims are making mischief? why i should stop worshipping Allah and obeying Him in the way He wants because of some black sheeps?

    :salam2: dear brother

I think that brother wanted to say, that we do not blame Islam for everything, or to relate Islaam for example with terrorism like he said that there are some who called themselves " Muslims" and kill in the name of Islaam :astag:, or in this case the sisters who use niqab for very bad purpose. And Allah knows the best.

may Allah forgive me if I said anything wrong,
