Alhamdulillah!

Everyone let out an involuntary gasp as the jaw-dropping fireworks ushered in the New Year 2011.

Dubai: Thousands of people around Burj Khalifa were awe-struck as a spectacular firework display erupted from the world's tallest tower at the stroke of midnight.

A fabulous sound and light show choreographed by the Dubai fountain set the stage for the firework display.

Everyone let out an involuntary gasp as the jaw-dropping fireworks ushered in the New Year 2011.

An estimated two billion people watched the fireworks around the globe as major TV channels relayed the event live.

Residents from the various emirates braved the crawling traffic to get to the party of the year at the Burj.

All Metro trains and buses were jampacked with commuters after Emaar put in full-page adverts inviting everyone to the party.

Shaikh Zayed Road leading to Burj Khalifa from Sharjah was jampacked. "I can see all cars at a standstill," said one motorist as he headed home on Al Ittihad Road.

Even as the fireworks went off there was a blinding flash from the spectators as hundreds of people tried to capture the moment with their cameras and mobiles.

Earlier, a German tourist who had set up his camera near The Adress Downtown to get a clear shot of the Burj said he expected "something amazing".

Security had closed off the bridge connecting Dubai Mall and Souq Al Bahar fearing it would collapse under the weight of the crowd.

As the fireworks ended, the excited crowd slowly dispersed into the New Year.

Burj Kalifa is an International building
and it not haram for non muslim to visit Dubai.

It seems fun and everybody is happy
to see those beautiful colours sparkling on the
dark night skies
making beautiful colours!

As salamu 'alaikum
Why it is not haram? Do you know how much they cost? Isn't it better to channel the money they have to help poor Muslim people?

If we were asked to use as minimal water as possible for wudoo, do you think spending huge amount of money on fireworks will be wise?Think about it.

What is haram and what is halal is well written in Quran and well explained in Sunnah. We do not need to assume what is haram and halal.

I live here and they waste alot of money in the fireworks,almost in every emirate city ,the majority of wastage is done in Dubai,near downtown and burj al arab,some mosque here suffer from low amount of water supply yet they have millions for these fireworks,it maybe any celebration either it be Christmas or new year none of them have base in Islam,if something doesn't have base in Islam its not allowed ,new year celebration was created by non believers,and we are not allowed to celebrate it how much it may look good or attracted.

It was just a celebration. The fireworks made many happy. And nothing more.

We have to be careful that we refrain from judgment. We are humans and not everything in the world is haram. We have to accept the fact that we are given life, just as everyone else, by Allah. It is His World.

If people want to celebrate..let them. Let joy abound. We are told to be patient.

and being a successful Islamic country
like The Respective Country of Dubai they are
well advise at such situation too
and ofcourse like for what i understand
Burj Dubai is an International building that is base and occupied by companies and many countries.
I am sure those beautiful fire crackers was sponsors by many organisers.

NOTHING ! it is ok for dubai to go and spend 10million dollers on the worlds expensive tree whilst brothers and sisters around the world are dieing ? cant it be used for good purposes and spreading islam? dubai is number 1 in money waisting ! and there are no countries that can be regarded as islamic ! saudi can be in some sence.
