Assalamo alikom, dear brothers and sister, :)

Hope you are all in the best state of faith and health.

I need your help. I have a question for an important research of a close friend of mine.

When were taxes first imposed on Islamic countries? I mean in which year did the governments of Muslim countries began to collect taxes instead of Zakat?

Hope anyone knows any information about that topic to post it here and I will be very grateful.

Your : ( just a question ) needs a very detailed answer ...

I do not know if you are familiar with arabic language -

then I can somehow help you because there are some scattered sources on the www - ( arabic ) - and to translate them it may take a long time .

The TAXES are many kinds and were known before Islam
and each tax had a different name - and Prophet MUHAMMAD ( PBUH ) mentioned it in Hadith .

so ... ???
