Salam....its halal...inshallah...as you r feeding them.....ensuring a more secure life,
as per statistics a tiger, which lives in a jungle leads life of 20-25years...and tiger in a zoo has a life-span of 25-30years....i think its applicable for other animals also...
remember Allah has provided evrything in this world for us....just demanding one thing .....worship non but Allah.

as far I know its Halal.....someone may say that its forbidden to have birds in house...in a cage....coz we r forbidding from them to fly in free sky...its illogical i think....coz if u can have cow/goat/checken in your house....for ur need(whatever the need is...like food/milk/eggs)....so u can have also some animals for ur mental recreation...inshallah...
its logical....what do u think?
and one thing....if ur keeping fish(the beauty of fish/their living/breeding) makes you thinking about the niyamah of Allah....thats the main thing...
Allah has said in the Qur'an....dont u see, what can I do?....
do one think feed them well/take care of them and thank Allah for his.. niyamah

Jazakallahu...

but i will suggest if anyone is keeping bird...and has a doubt in his/her mind..that he's doing a unethical/inhuman activity...its better to have pegions, because they r more pretty and they dont require a cage atleast.......inshallah

Barakallahu feekum

Fish Keeping is Haram is we cannot take of them as Allah does.

I also have a pet fish.

I was in an assumption that i am providing everything which fish needs however when i did some research in fish care field i discover that no one but Allah only can suffice what they need hence i would rather not consider keeping pet fish as a good idea. As we live in a Atmosphere surrounded by air, Where in fish are surrounded by water so unless we have sufficient equipment's to keep the water condition unpolluted we can have fish.

However its illogical to spent a huge amount of money for mimicking nature.

Assume that you have been locked up in a room where in there is no room for outer atmosphere to getting in and you have to answer all your nature’s call in there, you will die with ammonia and the same happens with fish.

So please do some study and i am sure that You will find that its haram to keep fish as a pet in tank as we can never be able to suffice fish requirements as Allah does.

Following are the Hadith Which focuses on Fulling the requirement.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.553 Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "A woman was tortured and was put in Hell because of a cat which she had kept locked till it died of hunger."

Sahih Muslim Hadith 6638A Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘A woman was thrown into Hell-Fire because of a cat whom she had tied and did not provide it with food, nor did she set it free to eat insects of the earth until it died inch by inch.’

Is it haram to keep Pet fish? and also I heard somewhere that the dog was created from the dirt taken from the area of the belly button where Satan spat on Adam (AS)?

Praise be to Allaah.
There is nothing wrong with keeping animals for which there is no Islamic prohibition on keeping them (such as dogs and pigs). There are reports in the Sunnah which indicate that some of the Sahaabah kept permissible animals for farming purposes or for fun and for pleasure.

It was narrated from Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that he had a young brother who had a nughar (a small bird or nightingale). The bird died, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw him looking sad and grieved, so he joked with him, and said to him words which implied approval of his keeping this bird. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him, “O Abu Umayr, what happened to the nughayr?”

And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us that a woman entered Hell because of a cat “which she did not feed, neither did she let it eat from the vermin of the earth.” From this it may be understood that if she had fed it, she would have been saved from that threat.

And it was said that Abu Hurayrah was so called because of a cat (hirr, dim. hurayrah) which used to accompany him.

So keeping permissible animals, so long as you do not neglect them, is something which is permitted and it may even be one of the means of earning reward, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “In every living being there is reward.” But if you keep animals and neglect and abuse them, it may be one of the means that lead to sin and the threat of Hell, as in the hadeeth about the woman who neglected her cat until it died.

We would also like to point out that Islam preceded both western and eastern organizations in proclaiming the rights of women, animals, workers, employers and so on. Indeed, the greatest rights which it proclaimed are the rights of Allaah over His creation and the rights of people over Allaah.

We would also point out that care and concern for human beings should take precedence over the care of animals, and that the reward for that is greater. [The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:] “Ward off the Fire even with half a date [i.e., by giving half a date in charity]” and “I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like these two in Paradise” – and he gestured with his index finger and the one next to it. And there are other similar ahaadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

On this basis, there is nothing wrong with your keeping fish as you mentioned in your question, so long as you take care of feeding them and avoiding anything that could cause their death. And Allaah knows best.

With regard to the creation of dogs, Allaah created them as He created all other animals; it is not permissible to claim that dogs were created from any specific substance without having evidence for that. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“and we testify not except according to what we know”[Yoosuf 12:81]

With regard to Iblees, Allaah commanded him to prostrate to Adam and he refused and was arrogant, then what he did was to tempt Adam to eat from the tree from which he had been forbidden to eat. There was no kind of dirt, and Allaah knows best. I do not know anything of the argument which you mentioned.

One aspect of the Qur’aanic guidance is that it mentioned the knowledge which the Muslim needs in this world and in the Hereafter; with regard to knowledge for which there is no need, the Qur’aan does not mention it, so as to teach the Muslims to focus on beneficial knowledge and to ignore everything else. For example, the Qur’aanic text does not mention the colour of the dog which belonged to the People of the Cave, or the kind of wood from which the ship (ark) of Nooh was built, and other matters which are irrelevant and produce no beneficial knowledge or belief. Perhaps speaking of the substance from which dogs were created comes under the same heading. And Allaah knows best.

Its completely permissible as long as you treat it well and look after its maintainence.

I had a fish wish was 5 years old and along with 20 other different species. You need to keep looking after them like filtration of the water if your tank is big and medication for infections.

Fish Keeping is Haram is we cannot take of them as Allah does.

Plz Brothers and sisters be careful if you having pet fish as we can never neglect there basic necessities. As Allah fulfills there necessities we too need to take care of it. Food and water is not the only thing which they require.

There are lot of things they require and if we fail to do so they die, and we need to be cautious about dis.

I would suggest to drop the idea of having something where in for sure there is no benefit but could be a great loss.

We can utilize the same time in ibadah.

Following is the verse which focuses behind human existene.

Allah (S.W.T.) says in surat At-Thariat, (Verse 56), what can be translated as, "I did not create the Jinn and the humans but to ya'bodoon (submit to me)."

following is the definition of ibadah.

"The "ibadah" is a collective noun that includes every thing that Allah (S.W.T.) loves and accepts from sayings and the physical acts; the hidden (acts by heart) and the openly (acts by limbs).

Following is the hadith which focuses on dobout.

On the authority of Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn 'Alee ibn Abee Taalib (r.a), the grandson of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), and the one much loved by him, who said: I memorized from the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w):

Leave that which puts you in doubt for that which does not put you in doubt
[At - Timidhi]

1- It is essential to leave the doubtful things.

2- Leaving doubtful things protects one's Deen because if he were to do it and it was Haram, it would have harmed him.

3- One cannot continue doing the doubtful when one knows of an alternative with certainty.

4- Halal is enough for a believer with the grace of Allah (s.w.t) so we must avoid doubtful things to protect our deen
