Assalamu Aleikom Everyone
Insha'Allah each and everyone of you are in good health.
I have a question...

If a convert comes to Islam purely by accident, and finds that this is the TRUTH they have been searching for all their lives, takes Shahada, and starts to live life as a Muslim.....WHAT HAPPENS WHEN:

*They feel themselves slipping backwards even though, they know Islam is right and can remember the feeling when they came to know about it

*They try to reverse it, but it seems the more they do, the more questions arise

*They think.."ok, Ramadan is coming and I will see for sure, experience something phenomonal deep in my heart, and this will remind me and change everything...secure my faith, answer my questions"

* Ramadan get here...the first day, pray, read Qur'an, fast, fine..no problem

*Second day, they drink something and break the fast. They knew what they were doing was wrong but did it anyway

*Third day, pray, read Qur'an and fast...no problem...fourth day comes and the same...

*Fifth day, something happens and this feeling comes over them.."why am I doing this? What am I reading? Why am I praying? Where are all these feelings I am supposed to be having? Where is the connection to Allah that they were supposed to get?

*One week into Ramadan and this person feels that maybe they didn't give it enough time, maybe all things will eventually come to them, all questions will be answered..so they decide they want to start to fast again...pray again

What do they do?
I am sorry for sounding so confusing..basically my question(or rather, questions) is this for those of you who do not understand..

If you fast for three days, break your fast for two and just don't pray or fast the others, then decide you want too, will you still be able to start again...fast the rest of Ramadan?

Also,
If you know that you are not feeling anything when you pray or read the Qur'an and fast, does it mean your heart is so hard that you will never come to be a good Muslim?
When you know what is right and what is wrong, but still question everything, does it mean you are doubting Allah and his message even though you don't mean too?
Does it mean that one could be one of those talked about in the Qur'an...about not ever ever being allowed to come to understand. A lost soul?
How does one feel something? Really and truly believe with all their heart? Is it through continuous prayer even though they don't feel anything now when they pray? Is it through continueing to read Qur'an and hoping that someday the feeling they had when they found Islam...overwhelms them again and shows them? Is it through fasting?

I am a mess...lol...I am all over the place with this message...PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES...just, there are so many questions. I really hope that you can understand me.
I do appreciate any advice..

Allah Hafiz

Reasons why a person who has recently become righteous may backslide, and guidance for one who wants to seek knowledge

33 Ways of developing Khushoo’ in Salaah

Ibn Rajab (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The basic meaning of khushoo’ is softness of heart, tranquility, submission and humility. If the heart is properly focused in this manner, then the rest of the body will follow it in focus, because they follow it as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In the body there is a piece of flesh which, if it is sound, the entire body will be sound, but if it is corrupt, the entire body will be corrupt. Verily it is the heart.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (25) and Muslim (1599).

P.S.

Do you think that a person, whose mother tongue is English, reciting prayer in Arabic(although, the proper way) may not be feeling the full affects of what they are saying because they are only reciting something that is memorized? (Even though they know what it means) But if they said it in English, then they would hear themselves and hear the words they are saying every single prayer to Allah...do you think this would make a difference in helping them to feel something in their heart if they are reciting something they understand? Then after, when they become closer....say it in Arabic?

Assalamu alaikum,

Hope this helps sister. Mmm This is pertaining to supplication though.

Ruling on making du’aa’ in languages other than Arabic in the prayer

Question:
Can we ask duas,in languages other than arabic in the salat after thashahud and the duas in sunnah.can we pray other duas from the quran that is not in sunnah.

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

If the worshipper can say du’aa’ well in Arabic, it is not permissible for him to make du’aa’ in any other language.

But if the worshipper is unable to make du’aa’ in Arabic, there is no reason why he should not make du’aa’ in his own language, so long as he starts learning Arabic in the meantime.

With regard to making du’aa’ in languages other than Arabic outside of prayer, there is nothing wrong with that, especially if that will make the worshipper more focused in his du’aa’.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:

It is permissible to make du’aa’ in Arabic and in languages other than Arabic. Allaah knows the intention of the supplicant and what he wants, no matter what language he speaks, because He hears all the voices in all different languages, asking for all kinds of needs.

Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 22/488-489.

See also the answers to questions no. 3471 and 11588.

Secondly:

There is nothing wrong with reciting du’aa’s mentioned in the Qur’aan even if there is no report in the Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited them in his du’aa’. They are all good and contain guidance. Most of the du’aa’s of the Prophets and Messengers that we know are from the Qur’aan. Undoubtedly their du’aa’s are the most eloquent and most profound in meaning.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

People should make du’aa’ by reciting the prescribed du’aa’s that are mentioned in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, because these are undoubtedly virtuous and good, and this is the straight path. The scholars of Islam and the imams have mentioned the du’aa’s that are prescribed in Islam, and turned away from the innovated du’aa’s, so we should follow them in that.

Majmoo’ al-Fataawa’, 1/346, 348.

And Allaah knows best.

Ruling on making du’aa’ in English

Question:
Can I recite duaa's in English?.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Making du’aa’ in English or in any other language is permissible outside of salaah (prayer). But it is not permissible to say any part of the salaah in any language other than Arabic, according to the majority of scholars.

But if the Muslim can stick to Arabic in all cases, especially in acts of worship – and du’aa’ is an act of worship – that is preferable and is better.
