:salam2:
Because of the situation in my family I can't tell them about my Islam, but I'd really like to have muslim contacts and friends, not only online but in real life.
So this maghrib I went to the masjid to pray..I don't go to the masjid that often..and it seems like after maghrib there was going to be some kind of activities, a short lecture and then dinner I guess. But I was kind of shy to join..so I left after prayer. Apart from the shyness..I don't feel "safe" making too many muslim contacts. There's the scare of having some of them possibly spread out the news, etc.
But also on the other hand..it's natural to feel "suspicious" of someone you've just met..especially when they're of different culture and backgrounds. We've all been told since little to not completely trust a stranger. I'm sure the brothers and sisters in the masjid must be good people, but the differences "intimidate" me sometimes. Then there's the age factor...most, if not all of them are older than me! *Speaking of the older people..is it just me or sometimes they don't look 'friendly', some of them would say the salaams, have a little chit chat like how are you, etc..but the others seem so "stern". Is it because they don't speak English that well? The worst is when they just stare in confusion without saying anything*
The same goes in campus..I'm just too insecure to hang out with the muslim students, let alone pray together with them.
