Male vs. Female

Salam Alaycoum

Many prefer boys over girls and vice versa..but why is that?
when i asked my grandma and my mother they said that they favour boys. as boys carry the family name. maybe its a cultural purpose..i hate the fact this thinking still exists..what i think is that they are both equal and no one is better than the other...

what do you think?
are girls better?
are boys better?
are they equal? why do you think that no one should be prefered over the other?

i would want boys over girls
because im a boy myself...
its nothing abt who's better or not or carry the family name for me.

Every soul (male or female) is equal in front of Allah swt.

Some men want a son because so they can carry their legacy & family name. Some men want a girl because daughters typically have more connections with their fathers and sons usually have more connections with their mothers (which is true in my case).

A male is not better than a female or vice-versa. It's just a preference for some people

More importantly - May Allah swt grant us all with healthy & pious children.

Im totally happy as long as Allah grant me healthy children(and if the child is not healthy, then that is just a test from Allah, and we should be happy with this) I don't get why people prefer one gender over the other:astag:

I hate that too. I'm afraid they are going back to jahiliyah (ignorance) who carries the name is not what matters, they should know that. May Allah subhana wata'ala increase their knowledge amiin.

like sister Zaynab123 said thats jahiliyaat, im a guy and i prefer daughter instead of sons, But it doesn't even matter whatever Allah (swt) blesses us with we should be thank ful for it

I agree! I feel the same way about children, whatever Allah gives us should make us happy...children are children no matter the gender.
By the way, I feel frastrated when people prefer boys over girls! I just dont think that is just or the truely equality Islam teaches.
