My Beloved Mother
Written By: Talib-Haider “HaQQ” Joseph

Mommy, I'm sorry if my first letter made you cry
To be Honest, I wrote it with tears in my eyes
I know ever since you read it, you wished you die
And I know everyday you praying to God asking why

I know inside you feel you failed as a mother
To be honest with you, I wouldn't ask for any other
And you didn't favour any between us brothers
It was I who walked away from the love you smothered

Remember you will always be my queen on this earth
I chose a path of truth for God had a greater worth
I couldn't even bare to know how much you were hurt
To know your son left you, the one you raised from birth

You don't know the pain I bare from all the food you eat
You don't know how I feel to see your soul just bleed
And how you gamble for richness from all your greed
I wish teaching you is easy as a flower, just one seed

That's why I'm still living with you hoping for a chance
Insha'Allah in heaven me and you will be holding hands
Or walk through Mecca, performing Sajda on foreign lands
Seeing a hijab on your head protecting you from blowing sand

My Mother, I Love You for you are my Queen
My Mother, I Love You now and forever
My Mother, Don't ever think I'll forget You
I Will Never, Never, Never.......

I know inside your heart just weeps, crying yourself to sleep
My heart is weak and my tongue don't have the words to speak
Shattered Love numbs your heart for I know your love was deep
I know you feel we're moving apart from week to week

I sleep twisted with feelings and my mind drained in thoughts
And you trained me hard to keep my soul inflamed with God
I was on a quest for truth, that's why Islam gave my brain a spark
So my soul reached out to God because darkness stained my heart

Mother, I took this journey to God so I could be a better slave
Only faith can save the tortures I will face in the grave
And it is from the love you gave, was my powerful aid
Without you in my life, my soul wouldn't have been saved

Some may say you are ignorant, some may say you are blind
But how little do they know, for what exists is a beautiful mind
A Women like you, A Mother like you, a son cannot just find
And how can these words express your kindness to mankind

Nights Alone, Days at home; Ye Allah to thee I do Pray
Mother, You are my sunshine when the clouds have turned grey
Allah I do pray, one day my mother will pray to the way of Kabbah
And let her sweet voice utter the words "La Illaha Illalah"

My Mother, I Love You for you are my Queen
My Mother, I Love You now and forever
My Mother, Don't ever think I'll forget You
I Will Never, Never, Never.......
