Thank You Allah!
:salam2:

I hope everyone is doing well, and is in the best of health and Imaan.

I have to make this quick because my baby sister is screaming her head off right now! lol

Alright, so right now I'm at home...ALONE, like always, except with my baby sister. Okk, my mum always leaves my baby sister with me when she goes out. And I don't go to school, you know. Anywayss, my baby sister always has to stay with me when I'm praying. And SubhnAllah...because of her, I cannot concentrate in my prayer...AT ALL (Oh thank God, my she stopped crying!!!) She distracts me so much. Like she's always running around and acting crazy, and SubhnAllah its so cute sometimes :p so most of the time I end up laughing in prayer :shymuslima1: Asthghfirullah...thats how much I can't concentrate. And sometimes she places her head on my feet while I'm praying, and SubhnAllah, she does it SO suddenly that sometimes I end up kicking her :p lol (aww poor baby  )

SOOOO....what I'm tring to say is that its REALLY hard for me to concentrate when she's around EXCEPT if I close my eyes. I've tried that and it helped but...I've heard its not good to close your eyes while praying  Is that true?? Because thats like the only way I can concentrate....

Well anywayss...I'm not sure what I should do now. Do you think its okk if I keep my eyes closed in prayer??

I'm waiting for your replies :hearts: InshaAllah

:wasalam: :hearts::hearts:

Salam...

I have a 15 month old daughter and yea she's a huge distraction alright... But what I do is... Since she's bored with most things she plays with, I give her my purse to search through or a new thing like a stck of books... U can put spoons in a plastic bowl and she' ll be distracted. Always give her something new and different when u pray inshallah

Lol I know they're funny ideas but they work!

Try it inshallah

Salam.

Walaykumu salam

Ohh JazakAllahu khair sister :) I hope it works InshaAllah. And hopefully she won't just throw it at me :p Because thats what she does most of the time lol.

Hmm...I also got another problem. As soon as I start praying, my baby sister literally goes crazyyyy!! She runs around the entire room, and its a really small room, so half of the time she's just bumping into me lol. Its really annoying though!! And also, she climbs my bed and just starts jumping. Its really scaryy because I don't want her falling off and killing herself lol :p. So in my prayer I'm just concentrating on her, making sure she won't fall off the bed. You know, she never ever fell off before, but still, its kinda scarryyyy. Now...if I close my eyes while praying...I won't see this and everything would be fine...no? So I REALLY want to know if its okk to close my eyes while praying....

Salam,
I have two young children so I know how hard it can be. A lot of times they will try to pray with me. Put her a rug on the floor next to you and tell her it is for her to pray on. Even if they are in the way or making noise I don't stop the prayer I just keep going. I am not sure if you can close your eyes or not. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you. Maybe you can shut or lock the door until you are done. Have the sitter watch her for that time.

Fatwa No. 22174

Ruling on closing the eyes when praying

Praise be to Allaah.

The scholars are agreed that it is makrooh to close the eyes for no reason when praying. The author of al-Rawd stated that it is makrooh because this is what the Jews do. (al-Rawd al-Murabba’, 1/95). The authors of Manaar al-Sabeel and al-Kaafi stated likewise, and added that it looks as if the person is asleep. (Manaar al-Sabeel, 1/66; al-Kaafi, 1/285). The author of al-Iqnaa’ stated that it is makrooh unless there is a reason for doing so, such as fear of seeing something one should not be looking at whilst praying, such as seeing one’s concubine or wife, or a non-mahram woman, naked. (al-Iqnaa’, 1/127; al-Mughni, 2/30). The author of al-Mughni said likewise.

The author of Tuhfat al-Mulook said that it is makrooh without discussing the ruling when there is a need to do it. (Tuhfat al-Mulook, 1/84). Al-Kaasaani said: it is makrooh because it goes against the Sunnah, which is to focus the gaze on the place of prostration, and because all of a person’s faculties have a role to play in worship, including the eyes. (Badaa’i’ al-Sanaa’i’, 1/503). The author of Maraaqi al-Falaah stated that it is makrooh unless done for a purpose. He said, closing the eyes may be preferable to looking in some cases (Maraaqi al-Falaah, 1/343).

Imaam al-‘Izz ibn ‘Abd al-Salaam said in his fatwas that it is permissible when necessary, if that helps the worshipper to focus more fully on his prayer. Ibn al-Qayyim said in Zaad al-Ma’aad that if a man can focus more fully on his prayer by opening his eyes, then it is better to do so. If he can focus more fully by closing his eyes because there are things that may distract him from his prayer, such as adornments and decorations, then it is not makrooh at all and the view that in this case it is mustahabb for him to close his eyes is closer to the aims and principles of sharee’ah than saying that it is makrooh. (Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1/283).

How about putting her in a car seat or a high chair to restrain her lol....that's what i would do, and while she's in the chair give her some finger food like cheerios or cereal to keep her busy. Don't give her anything that would damage the house ((in case she decides to throw it)) or throw at you. My little niece she's about 4 months old and her mom puts her in the swing set and she just smiles at her mom its cute

Ahhh this whole thread reminded me of my sweet little neice :D

well, she is a bit older I can say, now four years:) but whne she was younger and we babysat her on the weekends, she used to pray with us:D it was sooo cute, she would take her little Khimar............put it on then pray with us:) so I would say, ask her to pray with you. Make it look fun so she too would try to do it:)

Aww thats so cute! :D MashaAllah. But my baby sister won't understand if I tell her to pray with me :p She'd have like no clue what I'm talking about. You know, sometimes it helps when I scream at her :p before I start praying. But you know, I don't like doing that lol.

Lol and the lolly pop, believe me, she would just stick it on my hijab, and I wouldn't be so happyy :angryred:
