Asalamu Alykum Brothers & Sisters,

Okay not sure where to start but i will give it a go.

After browsing youtubeislam i came across a video and it was from Ummah Films, the person talked about different topics ranging from hijab to seasonal muslims. After all the videos the person had published i decided to show them to my brother as i thought he may benefit from them as i did. Now a minute into the video he said that he didnt like is presentation and that he was baiscally in no position to tell what others are allowed to do or not. Then i went and said there is nothing wrong with how he is presenting it, its just you know he is right and you cant face the truth and that he tries to present in a funny way so it attracts attention and inshallah helps others. (i dont if that was his aim, i came to this conclusion after watching all the videos). Then he said i couldnt accept it and i would always say no, this made me a little angry but i decided to leave it.

Now what i need help with is, is the person who made the videos in a position to so say any of this, even though he has received a lot of attention for it and Alhamdulilah converted a sister from what i saw today on the Islam Channel, he was on the Islam Channel this evening. Also i just need some advice on how i can help a family member as well as a non-family member reliase they need to change what they are doing and quick.

He is very popular and i think many of you would have heard of him. Just type in Ummah Films in google and then take it from there if you want to view his reminder videos. Although some sisters said they were offended by his "That's not Hijab" video and they would not view his videos anymore, so i dont know, in some ways my brother could be right or he may not be.

I would appreciate the help.

Alhamdulilah

salam,

i never thought there was any harm in his videos brother...in fact they are brutally honest depictions of the way somethings are....how is that bad~?

The brother on the vids is not quoting shariah or making fatwa's is he? he is just trying to give sincere advice to other brothers and sisters. it is not as though he is claiming to be sheikh it is just advice.

so we dont have to take his word as the truth under any circumstance.

[...and about the sisters who disliked his hijab video....? what are they on???!to tell u the truth im pretty particular about brothers commenting on the hijab and i thought his vid was very reasonable...!? the guy is right]

...and finally about changing ure family members...thts a good intention inshallah but remember that all of our hearts are controlled by Allah alone and guidance is from him.

Dua is best. :tti_sister:

Asalamu Alykum,

Yeah thats true sister, i thought the same too. And also thats even more truthful and Allah alone guides whom he wills, but its frustrating seeing family members not relising they could perish like a blink of an eye. I guess i will tell my brother about that and will make Dua for them as well.

It can be difficult even when you try and help in different ways, im sure you have heard of Harun Yahya and the 10 box dvd set, i purchased that and wanted to show all my brothers and the response i have got from some is, we will watch it later or we dont have the time, no matter how much i say. And to top it off when i try and do something good, your going extreme and need to chill out.

Inshallah Allah (S.W.T) will guide them. Inshallah.

Alhamdulilah

assalamu aleikum , brother please take away that angry face man!it is Allah swt that guides whom ever he wishes didn`t you watch the vid from brother abu Hafsa you know the one that used to be a wrestler and how he started to read the the Quran in brail?do not be sad brother sometimes i wish the whole world would see that beauty i would share it with every single human being but would there still be muslims if there were no kuffar?and how can we guide anybody that Allah has led astray! i myself know some people (non muslims) that say that they believe in god and that they recognise that prophet muhammad was a messenger of god but they are still not muslim isn`t that weird!whta can i do i`ve been telling them explaining to them but then i really understood that concept of free will / predestination eventhough it is the most treaky one in the Quran and the prophet has warned us not to think of that too much:) be good watch this is good stuff!

Asalamu Alykum,

Jazakallah for the videos above, he seems too be a very knowledgable person, i think will purchase some of his DVD's. Inshallah.

You are right about Allah (S.W.T) guides whom he wills and i guess there is a limit of what we can do. The angry face was simply because when Inshallah i try and do something good or remind them about death, they are like your going extreme. Thats what the angry face was associated with.

Inshallah i made sense and i nobody was misunderstood, as i personally liked the Ummah Films videos.

:wasalam: brother ditta,

SubhanAllah! What u speak of, ie the trouble with family etc, is EXACTLY what every muslim goes thru when trying to practice, till this day, my family still call me extreme and thats for not listening to music! lol! but on a serious note, to reiterate what the other brothers and sisters have said, it is surely only Allah who Guides, no matter how much we try, if Allah doesnt Guided them, then who are we. Never the less, it should not stop us, from trying to deliver the message in the most beautiful manner with patience and understanding.

A bit of advice- Be the bestest of friends with ur siblings and parents, for that will help greatly when they do decide to take the slightest of interest bi'idhnillah, dont stress at all, We all know how worrying it is, thinking and knowing that our family is not praying or are sinning etc and we really and truly want them to stop, but SubhanAllah, only Allah Can guide them, and we just have to make sincere dua for them and be thankful that Allah saved us from being what we used to be.Alhamdulilah.

ps- the brother from Ummah Films, is extremely truthful and the reason why ppl try and refute or stop watching Ummah Films, is due to their own insecurities, and hence their inability of facing their own faults, im sorry to sound harsh, but the truth does hurt, ie when a sister wants to wear jilbab , if she speaks to someone who doesnt wear the jilbab then surely they will not encourage her, (I speak from experience), due to their own insecurities. Similarily with a brother who wants to keep the beard etc, if u get what i mean.

pps- if u read his blog at ummahfilms.com he has written an amazing article on sigining autographs, and mashaAllah this brother has put in alot of genuine effort, And Allah Knows Best.

May Allah Reward him for his efforts.Ameen!

Asalamu Alykum,

I saw on the Islam Channel, when people ask for autographs he gives them a green wristband, i dont know what the wristband says though. Would like to get one. Clever but yet so simple. Alhamdulilah he is a lovely brother and may Allah (S.W.T) bless him.

I understand the fact there is a limit i can do and i guess Dua it is. I heard somewhere the more you tell a someone about Islam, the more you drive them away, dont know the authenticity of that. Well the last question i have is should i tell them some stuff about Islam here and there, or should i just sincerely give Dua for them and let Allah (S.W.T) plan, so to speak.

Also when thanking someone is it: Jazakallahu Khayrun or Jazakallah Khair
(I want to get the spelling right, you see)

Anyway, i will use Jazakallah Khair Brothers & Sisters for the advice.

Alhamdulilah

Salam,

The video's are wonderful. My sons watch the videos and find them to be truthful and amusing. So my sons are watching Muslims. They are then discussing Islamic issues. Mind you my sons are preteenagers. The films are pertinent to America. My sons now have a role model who is Muslim and hip.
In a country innandated with violence and racisim there is a simple option. Ali, never tries to be a scholar. He does take his faith seriously. Lighten up and enjoy...life is not serious 100 percent of the time...we can afford to laught at ourselves...

Basically, there is a time for this and a time for that, in the words of Ibn Masud:

Narrated By Ibn Mas'ud : The Prophet used to take care of us in preaching by selecting a suitable time, so that we might not get bored. (He abstained from giving us sermons and knowledge all the time).

2) JazakAllahkhair = JazakAllahkhayrun, they both mean May Allah Reward You
its just that in Arabic, some ppl prefer to pronounce the last vowel and some dont, it does NOT change the meaning.

JazakAllahkhair is for Singular Male.
JazakiAllahkhair is for Singular Female.
JazakumAllahkhair is for plural male &/or female.
