neighbours???

assalam alaykum

this may seem a strange question ,but its something ineed to know

i know that we must treat our neighbours very well..and be good to them ,give to them in need..

but what about asking your neigbours for things ..is that ok

for ten years ihad very close neighbours and we always helped each other out if someone needed something or was short of something,,,even cooking in anothers house if the gas ran oout

i now have other neighbours also for ten years,,we are not close but very good terms,,and my boys have grown up wiht theirs

recently we gave them a container of olive oil from my father inlaw's farm in lebaonon
and they gave us a carton of dates from their farm here in saudi

BUT my husband came to know that in the past we have asked them for things..like a cup of flour,two eggs..a few tomatoes,cup of rice ,when we just happen to run out,,and they too have asked for things

my husband got so ANGRY,as we had done something terrible
he said how can you possibly do this your not borrowing your begging

does anyone have any views opinion s answers on this matter please????

lets correct me if I am wrong about understanding the issue.

What is the matter with borrowing or taking something from our neighbour?
If some body gives something to another , this thing is a present.
ANd present is a halal thing.

Assalam Alaikum sister. It's not haram that's for sure, its just that's how men are they don't like other people to think their needy. And this is one of those example's.

well yes thats what ithought and this is just a simple thing so isee it as something they give,,but as the brother said,,some men dont like to take anything from anyone so iguess thats it
