Can a wali (male guardian of a female..can be a father..if not..then a brother..if not..then a paternal uncle..if not then a maternal uncle..if not..and so on) be present in a nikah done online?

Can a shaikh see and/or hear the *agreement* of the sister signing the nikah contract?

Can the witnesses fulfill the conditions of *witnessing the nikah?* (i.e. see a wali present..hear the amount of the mahr..see the groom..hear or be assured of the bride's agreement to the marriage..etc.)

These are *fundamental* conditions of nikah which have to be present..the condition of dowry can have variations..as it can be handed over in material..money..in payments..or even electronic deposit..but the conditions listed above are *critical* because just for a couple of quick and *valid* examples..Rasulullah (saaws) said:

"There's no nikah without a wali" [cited by Abu Dawood, Al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and authenticated by Al-Albani]

"Whichever woman, performed nikah without the permission of her wali; her nikah is invalid, her nikah is invalid, her nikah is invalid"
[cited by Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Al-Tirmidhi, and authenticated by Al-Albani]

It is only *cautionary*..that a nikah takes place in its *traditional* and *common* form..so it may guarantee the rights of *both sides* involved in it..and so the fulfillment of its conditions be stable and *clear* as to not have *doubt* or *conflicts* later on

and Allah Knows Best!

Assalamu Aleykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaathuh sister. It would be a risky decision to make, since many males (actually, a LOT of males!) tend to trick Muslims sisters by putting on a "good impression" to those sisters, and they ESPECIALLY do that to convert sisters so that they can destroy their lives!

It would be better if you spent your time around Muslims sisters that can support you, and also, when it comes to the time that you feel ready for marriage, then Inshallah, they might be able to help you find a good and Pious brother.

But anyway, doing Nika/Marriage online will NOT be a good decision to make.

And Allah Subhanahu wa Ta Alla knows best.

Salam

Does the poster mean only in written word, or does the poster mean like using a webcam or Skype, or the like?

I would think that if it is over the internet but the people are live and can see and talk to each other, wouldn't that be different?

Perhaps the poster can clarify is s/he means typing messages back and forth, or using live broadcast-type internet programs.

asalamualikum , its best advised sister that haveing nikkah online isnt the best way to do it as it can go against the sunnah.and i dont think you can have imam and a wali present at the same time, and obviously without them the nikkah cant be completed.
and also as someone mentioned brothers and also sisters can show a good face online but when you meet them in real life it could be all different, so best advice is to wait patiently and inshallah ul get a good brother.
