I have found the following video interesting and thought I'd share... The only point I am critical of is that at one point in the video the borother in Islam says that the Arabic language was much different from what it is today. His statement reflects the idea that the original arabic language is obsolete and that the Quran is written by a different arabic entirely. This fact is false. The only difference that I'm aware of is that the original arabic did not have what we call in arabic "tashkeel" which are the symbols that accompany the letters to convey how the words are to be pronounced. Does anyone else have further information about this fact?? Thank you and enjoy the video..

Perhaps he meant the *language level* (i.e. word choice & style)???

I mean for example...

If you were to read a poem by Al-Muttanabbi (a poet from Jahiliyyah)...you will certainly need an Arabic Monjed (dictionary) to help you understand many of the words..that's aside from reading passages a few times to understand what is written..because it is such a high and intense level of Arabic!

If you were for example to read poetry by the poet *Shakir Assayyab* (a poet from the 20th century)...you will *breeze* through it..a high-schooler with enough talent can probably come close to achieving its level of language because its written in *modernized Arabic*..same thing would apply to books written from that era and books written now...

The Arabic *now*..is different from the Arabic THEN..in the aspect of *its simplicity*..but certainly..the language is STILL the same!

I am tempted to give an example in Arabic for you akhi to support what I said..but I feel that if non-Arabic speakers won't understand it then it won't bring much benefit (it will just make my post even longer :shymuslima1:)

So I think that's what the brother was meaning..that the Arabic now is *too simple* for the Arabic from the past :)
