Parents keep bugging me about gifts

Assalamu 'Alaikum,
Since my parent's are Christian and they celebrate those holiday's like Christmas. They keep on bugging me about getting me gifts, and asking me what do i want! How do i tell them i don't want anything, and I don't celebrate this holiday without causing drama? And what if they decide to get me something even after i told them i don't want this. Can i give the gift away?? Or would that be rude...ok thanks..lol
Also i want to wish everyone happy Eid ul Adha!!

Assalamu alaikum sister!

Islam does not permit hurting the feelings of parents. As long as you do not ascribe partners with Allah subhanahu wata'ala then i don't see why accepting the presents from your parents should be a problem.

Severing relationship is not an Islamic act. Moreover, if you are maintaining good relations with your parents, perhaps they will accept Islam someday (Inshallah).

However, this matter has been fully discussed many times and it would be good of you do a little search on the subject on TTI.

You are right about receiving gifts from your parents during false holidays as being contradictory to your faith and a way of promoting falsehood and the cause of Iblis (Satan). If they wish to get you a gift, then ask them to receive it for Eid Al-Adha. Have a Happy Eid Al-Adha.

I am not quit sure if this is permitted or not( because I myself just converted to Islam a couple of months ago), but why not tell them you want them to donate money to a charity in your name. Tell them to give Zakat instead of buying you a gift. That is what I am going to tell my parents.:hijabi:

Hey sis- accept it as a gift for Eid-ul-Adha. But if you REALLY don't want a gift- then tell them you just want a nice evening with them, maybe even watch a movie with them to make them happy:)
