Praying in Public

Salaam Brothers and Sisters,

I'm working very hard on getting down the sequence of prayer as I just converted about 2-3 weeks ago. My question is about praying in public. For the most part I can get away from people where no one is around, but I'm thinking about a few possible circumstances coming up where I may have to pray while people are around. I do not want to avoid praying, but also know that it's inevitable that I will be thinking about people looking at me while I do so. I don't want to think about the people looking at me, but I'm just being honest in that I'm new at this and am not for sure what to do. I have read that if you break concentration during prayer it is invalid... so should I still pray?

Thanks!

:salam2: sister. I pray outside too when i am not at home. To you i will say praying on time right now for you is more important. As you will get comfortable with praying your concentration will come.

I used to think that way, but my friend said to me if others can making out in public why we muslim can not praying in public??. I remember I prayed in the public park next to train station where an aborigin next to me laid drunk.

I also remember that Abu Bakar, one of the first people who embrace islam used to pray in public

If you keep looking at the ground during praying, I do not think it will break your concerntration. And I dont think breaking up the concentration(not khusyu) will invalidate your prayer. It is very hard to keep the concentration (I only can do it when praying at night)maybe less good deed, but unless you moved more than three times it would not invalidate your prayer

I think you may have answered my questions from the other thread I just made - I still don't feel very comfortable though - I cannot concentrate I'd much prefer bein on my own especially now at the beginning (I converted a week ago!)
