Assalamualakum Everyone

Well im supposed to be responsible for next weeks Khutba at Jummah. I already know what im going to talk about. The video is under if you were curious, its a good video.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDgidHEWNPY

What i dont know is the opening of the Khutba , usually they say something in arabic from the Quran and i dont know that. Then near the end of the khutba they sit down for some reason then get back up i dont know are you suppose to do that? And then they end it and the person gives the Iqamah.

What are the requirements of a khutbah? By the way this is just for a High School Jummah not like at the masjid where thers hundreds of people. Can someone tell me the order of what your supposed to do in a khutbah?

Thank you and Jazakallah khairan

The translation of what is said in the opening of the khutba is as follows:

All praises are due to Allah, we praise Him, we seek His aid and we ask Him for forgiveness, we take refuge unto Allah against the evils in ourselves and against the badness of our deeds. Those whom Allah has guided no other creature will lead them astray and those whom Allah has misguided no one will guide. I testify that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the slave and Messenger of Allah.

Sorry inshaa allah someone can answer the rest of your questions as I have to go. :)

Wasalam.

As salaamu 'alaikkum brother, may Allah help you to convey that which is the truth, ameen.

It is from the sunnah to start the khutbah with khutbatul hajjah, and this is what Prophet Muhammed :saw2: used to start his talks with, so it is appropriate for us to do so as well. Below is the attached khutbah format.

LOL just had to convert my word files into pdf, took ages...

Anyways back to the khutbah topic... The first part of it is what is the khutbatul hajjah and I really recommend you to use all of it before you start your khutbah. (Don't forget to say Ammaa ba'd after that the khutbatul hajjah, its a sunnah, but also on the other hand it makes it look like you know arabic;)) After the khutbatul hajjah is a hadith about biddah which many of the ulema commonly use(I don't know if this is sunnah or not, but I initially heard it is, but I do not know for sure). You do the first part of your khutbah in whatever language you wanna do it. Then you have a dua' that you say just before you sit down before the second part of your khutbah. Then you stand up again and the dua is including in the pdf file, and then after that you start talking about the second part of the khutbah. I forgot to add a mark after that line that you can do your second talk after that. Its basically just before the Qur'aan ayah

At the end of the second part of the khutbah that I attached, are a few dua's that I mostly use and hence I put it there, but if you don't understand anything on that, do let me know, because I make notes on it sometimes if I want to add something or not, so its pretty vague :|

:salam2:

I don't know why people stress over memorizing the khutbah lol. That is something which you would not want to do lol. Just read it off the paper, but make sure you read it sooo many times that you do not have to look at it too often :D
