Queen Mary ISoc | Annual Dinner 2010

It's that time of year again and Queen Mary Islamic Society is gearing up for its biggest event of the entire year: The Annual Dinner.

Stretching back for almost a decade now, the one event that draws in the crowds like no other. The most sensational, Eemaan-building, friendship-strengthening gathering to grace the laurels of a singlee ISoc in the whole of London. Make no mistake: You miss this, you miss the best!

This year's iteration has been designed specifically to provoke thoughts over where we stand as Muslims today. The Current Socio-Political Climate facing Muslim Students, and indeed Muslims in general, in the West has reached a point where we're not sure whether to stand up and speak about our Deen, or wait for a better opportunity; one which would not cause ourselves, nor our peers, any harm. To solve this problem, to educate us over the possible avenues, this year's annual dinner will be focusing on the theme of Al Wala Wal Bara'a, Allegiance and Association in Islam.

لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ
"To you be your religion, and to me my religion." (Ayah 6, Al Kaafiroon)

The Lineup:

1. Qur'aan Recitation
2. Ustadh Yahya Ibrahim (Australia) - "For His Sake"
3. HHUGS Charity Presentation with short Documentary Video
4. Shaykh Haitham al-Haddad (MRDF) - "The Middle Path"
5. Theatrical Play
6. 3-Course Meal

Doors open at 5:30PM on Friday 5th March 2010. Tickets cost £8 per person and can be ordered through Paypal by clicking on the button below. Please leave your name and email address for the Islamic Society to get back to you with your ticket code which you will require to be granted admission to the event.

Erm not really, just found out a few minutes ago that we coincidentally met each other for the first time in university today. Alhamdulillaahm it is good to have brothers around you, bi ithinillaah ofcourse, but it helps you keep away from a lot of fitnah sometimes. Walhamdulillaah.

You two should now form your own joint dawah group, or something, like an offline-tti-club, and get in contact with other TTi brothers and try and do offline dawah all over the world.

That's actually a great idea.

Impossible, we had no idea until... now?

Alhamdulillaah, there is da`wah going on (I think our uni is the most active in London) and we don't need TTI's name for that. Baarak Alllaahu feekum.

That's wonderful to hear, Alhamdulillah. We are trying to get some brothers involved in the da'wah at my university as well. It's still in its infancy, so please make dua'a for us.

May Allah swt accept from brothers at your university and all of us. Ameen

Wa 'alaikkumus salaam wa rahmatullaah. It takes time, and a lot of commitment from the brothers, importantly keep things according to the Sunnah, and most important is ikhlaas and making dua' to Allaah for aid. Know that there is in shaAllaah an immense reward in these kind of things. Imagine the number of ignorant muslims who start practicing islaam, the number of non muslims who take their shahadah, subhanAllaah.

Salaamalaykum Akhi thariq,

BarakAllahu Feek for your advice and important reminder.

Our Dawa'a activities so far have been geared towards getting muslim brothers to come to the mosque as we have a good Islamic environment at the masjid Alhamdulillah. For non muslims, we have a Islamic Awareness week, in which we have a dawaa table for about a week.

As you can imagine, the dawa'a is still in its infancy but we hope that with the mercy of Allah az zawajal, we get more brothers involved and we can increase our dawa'a activities. Therefore, we need the advice and precious duas of all our muslim brothers, so that word of Allah can reign high in this small college town.

Wasalaamalaykum waa rahmatullahi
