Seeking Allah's Mercy

Qul HuwaAllahu Ahud!
Because of their culture... Something that i "shouldnt have a say" in. I would be obligated to follow their culture. His mum and all the mum's before have done so... I am worried about this but like I said, I will show him the Sharia and explain to him so that he understands and agrees.

Asalmaoalaikom wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

Flush the culture! and make it very clear to your husband before marriage that Islam is your culture. He should know so that he would know what to expect later.

Btw if you don't mind me asking. What Muslim country are you living in?

:salam2:

when i got married I kept my surname as i strongly believe that a woman must retain her identity. just like how zaid did not become zaid ibn muhammad (pbuh), why then should a woman change her true identity.

my origin is from syria, and i do not know a single woman in syria who changes her surname after marriage!

Sisters, better stop the culture attributing yourselves with your husband's name. It was a practice among hindus..

Second: I personally prefer Muhsin Khan's translation. Yusof Ali using archaic english difficult for me to understand, reason he did that because Quran is God's words so he prefers highest level of english.
