reciting quran in public

i have seen many muslim women took part in the quran reciting competition.i would like to know is it allowed in islam that women can recite quran in public where there are presence of men?a woman's voice is aurat so can she recite in the public?

i think its not allowed.

and why take risk?

u can recite where there r only women or mahram.
