asalamualikum brothers and sisters, hope everyones good.

1)im writing regarding music, recently a brother in his post gave a link to youtube, were a brother gives a lecture about music (including nasheeds),and he quotes various evidence from the hadith and some quranic verses.and he also talkes about the views of the 4 GREAT imams, and gives evidence on how they disliked music and how they forbided it (musical instruments).i wanted to know how comes other scholers who gives talkes etc dont mention about the 4 imams condeming music? the talk seems really good mashallah, and he concludes that music is HARAM.

2)the main thing that shocked me is, his even claiming that 'nasheeds' are haram? as they use music at the backround? is that true? seemed as if his saying that nasheed artist like zein beikha are doing haram by useing even less instuments?

3)and finally, he claimed that 'last breath' is writen by a non muslim, and that was copied by ahmed bukhatir isit true?

this is the link, watch all parts if possible - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkcZvxkmQsg&feature=related

jazakallah

Yes I know about that link and I have watched a few parts of it.In sha Allah will continue to watch when I have time.

Any instrument that produces music is haram. For example why would they use their voice to produce music?Voice or instrument;don't they have the same effect?

Recently I came accross a few nasheeds and guess what, they are better than Akon's songs.

Forget about the lyrics, the whole nasheed -the rhythm and the way it was sang is just awesome and I felt the same way I listened to Akon's song or any other songs.

When it has the same effect, then I am afraid it isn't good.

During our prophet's time, did the companions sang nasheeds? One of the girl did and the brother has explained it very well.

In hadith you can find what we are suppose to do and not suppose to do.Do dzikir that has been taught by our prophet pbuh. Why do we need nasheeds?Isn't that immitating kuffrs who has religious songs?

I guess the heart should be filled with Quran and dzikirs.

I am not a big fan of nasheeds and alhamdulilah gave up listening to music.

What the brother said in sha Allah is true.

Satan is very smart and yes he is cunning and smarter than us.What he tried to do might not be realised by us.

The brother brought a very good reminder for us with Allah's will.

So let us not debate whether nasheed is haram or halal and whether music is haram or halal.

Let just spend our time by doing what has been written in Quran and hadith as that will save us in sha Allah.

Allah knows the best.
Assalamualikum.

wa aleikum salaam,

I was also surprised about that so much was Haram. But now when I stopped listening music and I hear it I disgust it.

Saitan is very tricky and knows how to please human beings, so that they will follow him.

Let us be strong and follow Allah.

Alhamdullilah

I watched the lecture..and mashallah..I thought it was very informative..and it presented the issue clearly..with great detail..which helped me understand something that I was confused about..and even added to my knowledge..I especially appreciated the brother's idea of allowing us to hear "the closest thing to a halal nasheed" (as he put it)..I thought that was wonderful...

I will add however..that *from experience* with myself (before I stopped listening to music) and with my friends..that listening to nasheeds (whether with music or without) leaves the door open towards going back to music..*especially* if you listen to the nasheeds *all the time*..you will see that you will slowly begin to drop back on your advancement..

For example..you will go from the no-music nasheeds..to the ones with the hums and echos and etc...then you will go into the ones with the drums and duff (or daff)...then you will go and listen to the ones with the *actual* music (think "Sami Yusuf style")..and before you know it..guess what?..you're back to square 1..tuning to your radio..or putting in that favorite CD of yours..

If you have family members who listen to music regularly..or know friends that do..the drop back will take place at an even *faster* pace..because you have the door open..AND..the magnet of fitna is surrounding you...

The best thing to do is to just drop the nasheeds of all kinds..simply replace what seems to be a "gap" to your mind..with other things..such as beneficial lectures (like the brother in the lecture suggested!)..and of course I won't mention the Qura'an..because that should your *number 1* replacement...and with dua'a..renewed intention..and patience..you'll see that you will not only leave music..but like it was said earlier..you will be *disgusted* by it due to your strong dislike of it!

And may Allah protect us from fitan of all sorts..Ameen

i talked to my friends and they kind of believed that nasheeds were all right. however i didn't listen to music or even nasheeds. this is because they were still using instruments. satan is very tricky. one sheikh said that, when you don't know about something you may have dought. this dought can lead you disbelief. so the way i looked at it was that if i didn't know whether it was halal or haram i would just leave it. therefore i would not be in sin. but i used to listen to music a couple years ago untill i stopped. listening to nasheeds can open the door to satan. hope this helps:salam2:
