Searching advice especially from Muslim Sisters

Hello, Ill start from the beginning. I'm a 20 year old female who has been raised in a strict Italian American Catholic enviromentin Cleveland Ohio. When i turned 16 i started to rebel and wounded up living on the street. With God, I have turned my life around and began searching for the truth. For the past 3 months I have been studying Islam. I am now at the point where I feel I have found the truth in Islam, now the next step. There are few mosques in my area, but i feel as though having a teacher will benefit me the most in order to become a muslim sister. Any information would help. Thank you, Michele

Alhamdulillah for you reverting to the Straight Path of Islam.
In regard to finding a teacher, I think going to the nearest mosque to find one is best. You also might be able to meet sisters who could support you there.
I pray Allah (awj) to make it easy for you and bless you with knowledge.

May Allah be with you and guide you to the path of eternal ease (i.e. Islam). Alhamdu-lillah Allah has made you see and have beautified Islam in your heart as Allah himself said in Surah (Chpater) Hujuraat,

but Allah has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts and He has made hateful to you unbelief, wickedness and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness― (7) A grace and favour from Allah; and Allah is full of Knowledge, and Wisdom. (8)

Sister Allah will surely made it easy for you since you are willing to find the truth as He has promised to those who strive and strugle that He will guide them,

And those who strive in Our (Cause)― We will certainly guide them to Our Paths: for verily Allah is with those who do right. (69) - (Al-Ankaboot)

As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allâh and fears Him, (5) And believes in Al-Husna (goodness/the best).[] (6) We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). (7) - (Al-Lail)

Firstly I send praise to Allah that He has guided you to the path of Islam. Secondly I would like to send you a cyber hug as my new sister and welcome you into the Muslim community or the Ummah. I too am a new convert and will be more than happy to keep an open line of communication with you. Please feel free to PM me if you want to just chat with a fellow revert. I know sometimes it can be a challenge to convert when you face possible opposition from family and some friends.

I am no scholar but if you have any basic questions about women and our roles in Islam I can answer them or at least find the answer to them. There is also a sister's sensitive area on this board where you can feel free to ask questions of more personal nature and only sisters will see it.
