is it ok to teach my sister one of the self defense sports you know the world isnt a safe place .
and i knew a bout one nurse who was about to be attacked by five guys and because she plays karate she was able to protect herself from them :ma:.
so that makes me want to teach my baby sister this kinds of sport .
so what do you think ?
btw my uncle is a doctor and this nurse was at the same hospital he used to work for .

I don't think this is against Islam as long as we do not misuse it example being involved in gangsterism or try to be hero... hero is zero. I know one real case happened here also when a group of guys disturbed one girl..unknowing that this girl is a karate black belt holder...very embarassing, all of these youth get a whacking from this girl after they used a lot of vulgar language at her. I personally learned taekwando and I would want my children to learn also for self defense.

As long as you follow the guidelines of "Awrah" and "properness" (for lack of a better way to put it) it should be good.
Ofcourse the best self-defense is adkaar .
