I have been studying salat lately, as I'm considering conversion, and just wondering what the significance of the motions are? I guess certain ones like bowing, kneeling, and prostration are pretty easy to figure out, but what about the turning of the foot and hand motions? I hope you all can understand how this may be difficult for someone who is non-muslim to understand the significance of. It's just imperitive for me to know that if I'm going to be doing something that's important like salat, to understand the reasoning behind it.
