Some of the Benefits of Khushoo’
By Shaykh Husayn al-’Awaayishah
[1] A lawful and good subsistence. Allaah, the Most High Says:
“Whoever fear Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out [from every difficulty]. And he will provide for him from [sources] he could never imagine.” [At-Talaaq 65:2-3]
[2] It causes a person to be as close as he can to his Lord, the One free of all imperfections and the Most High.
[3] It wipes away sins and brings about forgiveness of them.
[4] Success and well-being as Allaah, the Most High, says:
“Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their prayers with humility and attentiveness [khushoo’].” [Al-Mu’minoon 23:1-2]
[5] It forbids evil and wicked deeds.
[6] It increases one’s guidance, Allaah, the Most High, says:
“As for those who strive hard in Us [Our Cause], We will surely guide them to Our Paths.” [Al-‘Ankaboot 29:69]
[7] Entry into Paradise as occurs in the hadeeth which has preceded: ”…then he has a guarantee from me that I will enter him into Paradise.”
[8] Contentment of one’s soul and joy, as he [sall-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam] said: “…Give the iqaamah for the prayer. Give us comfort by it.” Also his [sall-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam] saying: “The Prayer was made the coolness of my eyes.”
[9] It causes the servant to reach the level of the foremost worshippers who worship Allaah as if they are seeing Him, as he [sall-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam] said: Pray the prayer of one who is bidding farewell, as if you are seeing Him.
