Tasbeeh or Astaghfar?

Seeking Allah's Mercy

Qul HuwaAllahu Ahud!
Asalamoalaikom wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu. . .

Ibn Al-Qayim once told Sh. Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya ( Rahimuhum Allah):

"Some scholars were asked what is more beneficial for people; to do Tasbeeh ( saying Subhan Allah and likewise) or Istighfaar ( Saying Astaghfir Allah and likewise)? He replied: " If the dress is pure and clean then scents and roses water are the best suitable things for such dress as it needs that. However, if the dress is dirty and not clean then soaps and hot water is what the dress needs" [ Al-Wabil Al-Sayyib Fi Al-Kalam Al-Tayyib]

May Allah bestows his Mercy upon Ibn Taymmya and his student Ibn Al-Qayyim

to Allah we belong
:wasalam: bhna,

but tasbeeh too removes the dirt of sins from the soul. :)

and the best is doing tasbeeh (or dhikr) and istaghfar both.

jazaak Allah khair.

brother, after the taslim, istighfaar is the first thing rasul salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam used to do, and daily 70 times, so 14 times after every Fard salah, for us.
and then tasbeeh (Subhan Allah, Alhamdu li Allah and like wise) 33*3 or 25*4 or any type of tasbeeh we want to do.

so once the dress is clean with istighfaar, then we can put perfume!
I think this is the analogy

:)

wa jazakum Allahu khair

That quote I shared is not mine, it's Ibn Taymiyyah. He's just saying before applying the perfume, It is better that wash our clothes to remove the dirt, with hot water and soap. If they are clean perfume is better than washing them.

Similarly if a person is sinful, It's better that he washes his sins by Astagfar. And when he's clean, he'll glorify Allaah the Exalted. What if a sinner starts glorifying Allaah and Allaah doesn't accept his worship because he's angered Him-The merciful? You apology to a person you've offended before you praise him or become friends.

Doing both are better, Infact that's what the quote emphasis on. Showing how each is important and when.
