I have always been a fan of politics. I have always liked to watch the campaign ads because I always found them to be funny and very entertaining. I have heard it all before: “ this guy is corrupt. “ , “ this one is unfaithful to his wife. “ ; i understand all of their tactics. but there has become a trend not only by some politicians, but also by some candidates to use the word “ MUSLIM “ as a bad thing. it’s being used as a curse word in a sense.
Barack Obama, is always being accused of being a Muslim, and for that very rumour it has been more than enough for some people not to vote for him. People are always mentioning his middle name which happens to be HUSSEIN as a means to insult him and to further declare him ineligible for the presidency. I am in no way endorsing Senator Obama, but I am sick and tired of people using my faith as a scarlet letter.
I just really feel that the Muslim community needs to be more vocal in expressing their unhappiness with the way that the words Islam and Muslims are used in an attempt to make us ashamed, evil people and they symbol of being unpatriotic.
