The solution to overcoming any difficulty

"O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient."
Surah Baqarah Ayah 153

Whenever we are faced with difficulties we must use the advice Allah has given us. He has told us there is a 2 part solution to overcoming any fitnah. First, we must change our attitude and realize that it is a test from Allah and accept it completely. We must accept that there is some good in it and that an immense amount of spiritual development can come out of it. Second, we must increase our salah, praying not only the fard but doing the sunnah, doing nafl, doing tahajjud, and doing them on time with the best of khushu. If we follow this advice then there is no doubt that Allah will help us overcome our difficulty and come out of it even closer to Him than when we started.

Walaikumusalam sister....I can speak from experience since I do pray it regularly now but I only started a few years ago (majority of my life I was not praying it). This article may be helpful: http://muslimvillage.com/2012/07/28/25802/how-to-perform-tahajjud-the-night-vigil-prayer/

From my own experience I started praying tahajjud because I was a student and I was having a very hard time finding a job. I made dua to Allah in tahajjud for 9 months until he gave me a job. Not just any job, a job in a city I love, with the best company I could hope for, and an amazing Muslim community. As of right now I am trying to memorize larger surahs so I can lengthen the Tahajjud salah. Right now a few steps you should take are to not stay awake too late into the night (going to sleep soon after Isha is best) and avoiding sins as much as possible. Also, try to improve the quality of all your salah in general, pray them slowly and ponder over what you are reciting. I hope this helps and may Allah reward you.
