Asalaam Aleykum!
Hi ALL!!!! I have been away from tti for a few days, getting the family ready for their departure. Finally I am surrounded in peace for a while. The reason for my post is to see what should be done for the holiday and when it is exactly. I know they usually go and kill the lamb (which I can't bare!) and then cook and eat together. I don't really wish to go and eat with his male friends and their wives, which I wasn't invited anyway that I know of.......would it be acceptable for me to cook like a roast or something and prepare a meal for the honor of that day? And what should be done on that day? Since it is close to the traditional christmas season, would it be okay for me to adorn my front yard with sparkly lights? My first holiday as a Muslim and I have no one here to spend it with or make me feel the season. Also, I visited the Mosque in Falls Church yesterday and picked up the local Muslim paper......do muslims really feel as persecuted as that paper made it sound......I felt is very derogative towards America.....I was somewhat insulted but again, I don't know what persecution you may feel. I only know my husband has never felt racism or religious persecution and he has worked with some REAL REDNECKS down here. I am just wondering if the stories are not exaggerated. Thanks everyone in advance for some info.
