Salaam

I believe that a true peace comes from God almighty and we can receive peace only when we submit ourselves to Him. when we worship Him alone with No bartner..... i find peace when i am worshing Allah (ta'alaa) standing in prayer reciting the Quran while in prayer and understanding it..... don't worry about alot of things most people worry about because Allah almighty says in the Quran....Whatever Allah grants to man of (His) mercy there is none to withhold it, and what He withholds there is none to send it forth after that, and He is the mighty, the wise.(35:2)

Because i put all my trust in God and i have a faith that everything will be alright... we pray 5 times a day so every 2-3 hours is a prayer time and i can also do editional prayer if i want to.

As salamu alaykum
Our EEMAN ( FAITH ) is the source of peace for us. Each and every moment we remember The Creator. We constantly strive to achieve HIS pleasure. And anything we do, its for HIS sake only. From HIM we are , and we will return unto HIM. We achieve something we praise Allah, we are rejected with something even then we praise Allah. Everything belongs to HIM. There is none worthy of any kind of worship but Allah and Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings upon him) is the Final Messenger.

Islam is total submission to Allah - so, our lives are governed by obeying the commands of God all the time. Praying is part of it. Moving an obstacle from the road is ibaada, or worship ... Giving Charity is ibaada or worship to Allah... Making du'aa (supplication) wherever u r and anytime of the day is worship etc ... so that we may please Allah. And we know that there is great reward in all those things, when Allah is pleased with us.

In all these commands, you will find justice ... there is no peace without justice. So Islam is not only peace at individual level but in the community as well.

I am always in a state of peace-alhamdulillah (All praises due to Allah), but that is not to say I don't get tested in my life, however I try to remain patient because in the Quran it states "Do you expect to enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you. They were afflicted with severe poverty and aliments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said "When (will come) to Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!" (2:214)..

Peace comes from Allah and doing things to please Him (praying, giving charity, respecting your parents, treating your neighbors kindly, doing righteous deeds, etc). If you know the rewards of the next life, you would do whatever you have to to please the Creator and of course to be in heaven. To a Muslim this life is hell and the next world is heaven. I also suggest you try and go to the nearest masjid around your home and just listen to the purity and harmonization of the prayers being recited (it will not matter if you understand it or not) while the brothers and sisters are coherently and in unity doing their prayers and you will see true peace- peace of the mind and peace of the heart.

Without Islam there is no peace. In order for me to understand peace I have to know it's opposite, and when I do see the opposite of peace, I see chaos. Islam allows me to understand peace by seeing it's opposite. Somtimes you have to see the opposite in order to appreciate things more- and that is what Islam offers me.

Dear lostlilly07

What you asked is a very good question (What does peace mean to you?) and is followed by another very good question indeed (How do you get through each day?).

Different persons may answer it differently because people find peace in different ways, but as a muslim, i am certain and believe that the source of that real peace, which you and I are after, is Islam alone.
If you ask me why, my answer would be as follows:

Allah is our creator and he knows best our needs and means of happiness and success. Bearing that in mind, he has chosen Islam for us as the way of life, which encompasses not only spirituality and faith, but also how we should live our daily lives.

Now, it is not possible to show one what peace looks like or how it tastes or feels, but it can be perceived by following the guidelines set forth by our creator.

If you have already tried Yoga, Buddhism, ..... why not try Islam now and see for yourself.

Allah, the most merciful says:

"And whosoever turns away from my Reminder, verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shal raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection."
Quran, Chapter 20, Verse 124

What can be harder than to be confused and not know "why I am here?" and "what is the truth of life?"

If we know the answers to these, peace will automatically follow, if Allah wills.
Don't you think it's time to do some truth search?
I hope you will find it here, and I am sure you will, only if you have an open heart.

May Allah guide us all to the right path

assalamu aleikum it is simple you will find peace when you learn to control your own greed ,envy , hate, vanity, and you won´t reach that until you manage to balance the relation between tree important entities . rationality, love and justice.

1.rationality without love leads to auschwitz for example
2.rationality without justice to exploitation in human relations(the law of the jungle)
3.justice without love to self distruction

when these three entities loose the balance between them you get:brotherhood turning into competition(ego), tolerance to hostility against moral values, eros into sexual athletic
altruism into individualism(selfishness),fear into anger, satisfaction into dispicableness., fun into aggressivity like in the hard rock concerts for example...etc(extracted from islam the alternative M.W HOFMANN).

the only thing that can balance the relation between these three entities is "spirituality"as humans we tend to see the danger coming from outside of ourselves and build our defences accordinglythat`s natural. yet the biggest danger lyes in oneself and that`s the one we neglect to see the surprising the hidden one that is where we are vulnerable, we grow in a world full of noise sourrounded by events and environements that shape our personalities and loose ourselves in the masses with a feeling of anxiety of helplessness by the mean time, but then suddenly out of the blue during a moment of silence we feel the need for a deeper understanding of our existence we long for a source of strainght and security and that`s the first step towards peace it comes when you start wanting to know about yourself for what you are not because your little dog knows you! what you are and your pupose in this life. and the relation to Allah swt your creator.when it comes to you you must catch it and if ALLAH swt wants inschallah you will get addicted to it it is better than any drug it doesn`t hurt it cures it doesn`t cost it`s free! that`s the bounty of god towards us human beings besides all he has provided for us in his creation yet most of us take it for granted and persist in our seldestructiv stuburnness! i wish you the best may Allah swt give the guidance to ease you soul inshallah.ameen

wassalam
