Assalaamu alaykum,
The thread has it all, however let me write as what i have read in this regard --
The adhkaars and the hamd-sanaa have to be read or spoken as to what is the right guidance for it. In your mentioned question, the one who will speak or read as no matter how many times 786, has no meaning other than that as repeating a number ! And do not make up the act of sawaab or ajr. But contrarily, as alhamdulillah the one who says the ‘bismillah….’ then has it all.
The abbreviated transformation into a numerical value for adhkaar, dua or hamd-sana has no support in Islaam. The same consideration is for the number of ayats in quraan, the number of surahs and the mention of number 7. The misguidance is even prevalent of viewing those numbers as holding some owe and reverence! unfortuantely.
The scholarly outlook is not believing such contexts and moulding them the other way they lose their meaning, the way etc.
May Allaah reward you sister Alf for puttng up the question. BarakAllaahu feek.
And From Islamqa as under...
The number 786 means 786 and nothing more
Salam

The number 786 means 786 and nothing more !
When Allah or His messenger want to teach us something, they do so in the clearest way, far from puzzles and mystery numbers. All the efforts made by some Muslims to count letters and relate them to numbers are nothing but a waste of time. Sometimes they do so with good intention to show that our deen is great. Indeed our deen is great, and not in need of such erroneous approaches
