One of the biggest criticisms we face from nonbelievers is our lack of a unified view on terrorism, the taliban and bin Laden. I've seen view points from both sides where some Muslims repudiate Osama bin Laden as a kafir and other Muslims give him a quasi-prophet status, and everything in between. I've seen people wish him Hell and wish him Heaven. I am curious to see if the nonbelievers are right about us. What is your opinion of this man, his actions and his points of view. I think I have the right to ask at the very least. Please keep this civil if you intend to answer.

Yes, there are certainly horrible wrongs going on in the world, but I want to know to what extent are we willing to challenge them?

Personally I think he did more damage to Islam then good. Killing innocent civilians in the AQ attacks around the world, which had to be given permission by him made Muslims look like butchers. It is against the rules of war and even the Prophet (pbuh) said to not kill innocents. While I can understand his anger and hatred of the West the way he and his buddies in AQ went about it were totally wrong. I am still on the fence as to who carried out 9-11 but other attacks by AQ I have no doubt came from him. All in all to me he was a mass murderer who twisted Islam to his use.

Brother what is the point of bringing up a fellow Muslim who past away? Whatever he was, he is facing his Lord right now and Allah is the only one who is going to judge him justly. To be honest, no one really knows much about him. We, especially those of us in the U.S. know only what we hear in the media and we all know a lot of stuff the media says about Muslims and Islam is untrue. With that said, may Allah have mercy on him and may Allah forgive him.

For those who are quick to judge him, let's remember that you have to make sure what you're saying about him is true, which is really difficult to prove since most people didn't know him personally or even met him once. Other wise you are spreading false information. And everyone will be accountable for every word they utter against a Muslim person who they don't even know.
