What's more precious: Money or Women?

A Mufti (Muslim scholar) sat next to a Reverend on a flight.
The Rev asked the Mufti, What is your occupation?

Mufti: I'm into big business

Rev: But what business exactly?

Mufti: I deal with God

Rev: Ah, so you're a Muslim religious leader. I have one problem with you Muslims: you oppress your women.

Mufti: How do we oppress women?

Rev: You make your women cover up completely and you keep them in the homes.

Mufti: Ah. I have a problem with you people: you oppress MONEY.

Rev: What? How can one oppress money?

Mufti: You keep your money hidden away, in wallets, banks and safes..You keep it covered up. Why don't you display it in public if it's a
beautiful thing?

Rev: It will get stolen, obviously.

Mufti: You keep your money hidden because it is so valuable. We value the true worth of women far, far more. Therefore, these precious jewels are not on display to one and all. They are kept in honor and dignity....

Still I don't like this story. Although women a portrayed well here, it still makes me feel women r inferior to men..even associatin women with precious objects still gives e implications of women being objects. These r jus my views so pls dont mock me for them

Jazaki Allah khairan, dear sister.

This reminded me of a conversation between one of my Christian colleagues and another Muslim colleague. The topic was " Hijab".

Actually, the Muslim teacher didn't direct any blame or even a question to the Christian lady. He was just talking with another Muslim teacher about the
harassment that the Muslim sisters may be exposed to because of their Hijab or niqab.

Unexpectedly, the Christian lady said," Doesn't Allah creat this hair for me?? then why should I cover it??? It is a gift from Allah!!". She was talking angrily, so we didn't want to reply to her in order not to get her more upset.

When I got home I said to myself," How can those people think like that?? No doubt that they are deceiving themselves!!

I wish if I had a calm discussion with her to tell her that it is right that Allah created her hair as a gift, but He also created her all body as a gift. So why doesn't she walk out without clothes??!! Why does she choose to cover her body and expose her hair if everything she has is a gift from Allah?!!

Well, me too. I do not like comparing women to any objects. Women are human beings and Allah swt. said that He honored the sons of Adam over so many of His creation. So women are not like any objects; they are more honorable than that.

If I were the Mufti, I would say," Allah swt.is the One Who created men and women and He is the best One to know what is the best for both of them.

Allah swt. and we all know that an exposed woman will definitely agitate men's feelings, so Allah swt. ordred her to be covered, not only to protect her, but also to protect you and your sons.

I'd also ask him, "How did the believing women use to wear during the time of prophet Jesus or Moses or during the time of any prophet?" From the begining of the creation Allah swt. orderd women to be covered in front of non "mahram" men. So why do you insist on oppressing them by treating them as a very cheap commodity.

agreed. theres a bette rreason why women are covred. but the reason the mufti gave was trying to was "religious-centrism" when what we shld be striving for was a mor eopen dialogue with a non muslim rather that the typica "my religioun is better than you and you are going to hell" undertone
