This question puzzle me? Learn about Islam!
Because the guidance (tawfeeq and hidayaah) is solely from Allaah. There are those whom Allaah has given a heart, two eyes, two ears but yet they are sealed from knowing the truth. Allaah knows best of those who deserve His guidance and those who not.
"Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment." Al-Baqara,2:6-7
The characteristics of the Munaafiq are explain in this following ayaat until that Allaah put sealed into their heart:
"When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muhammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allah ." And Allah knows that you are His Messenger, and Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars.
They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah . Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.
That is because they believed, and then they disbelieved; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand. " Al-Munafiqoon,63:1-3
The people who were given the kitaab but yet disbelieve in the message brought by Muhammad sallallahu a'laihi wa salam was due to their arrogance. They knew that Muhammad is a real messenger but yet they denied it.
"And when a messenger from Allah came to them confirming that which was with them, a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained]." Al-Baqara,2:101
"Mankind was [of] one religion [before their deviation]; then Allah sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed. And none differed over the Scripture except those who were given it - after the clear proofs came to them - out of jealous animosity among themselves. And Allah guided those who believed to the truth concerning that over which they had differed, by His permission. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path." Al-Baqara,2:213
:The other one that questions me even more, why would anybody(non muslim) care if another person is muslim? Why so much effort to fog the truth?
This reminds me of the ayaat:
"And never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper." Al-Baqara,2:120
Try going over the translation of Suraah Al-Baqara and Al-Imraan.
Indeed, even those who may have fight so passionately against Islam (before knowing the truth about Islam), it isn't impossible for that very same person to embrace Islam and then fight for the cause and sake of Islam. Allaah guides whomsoever He wills.
But yet, we as Muslims are not even sure if we will end our life as a true believer. Thats why we are encouraged to make dua'a constantly to gain Khusnul Khatimah (a good ending) in our life.
In a lecture I once listened, the speaker said that the way how we spend our whole life will affect the way on how we die. If all our life we kept ourselves busy with dhikir, ibaadah and good deeds, inshaAllaah the tashahud/shahadah that we kept saying daily, we will be able to utter it at the final moment of our life. InshaAllaahu Taa'la.
يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلوبنا على دينك
O Sustainer of the heart, keep our hearts firm on the deen.
Ameen.
I seek forgiveness from Allaah if I have erred in my words.
Wassalam.
